So dunno if a thread has been done like this before but if you had to match stuff from EvE to Starcraft what would you chose?
Overall I think:
Amarr look a lot like Protoss: - The Protoss had yellow ships just like Amarr - Amarr are all rounded and symmetrical just like the Protoss - The Protoss carriers look somewhat like the Amarr Providence. - However! Protoss were shield tankers... Amarr mainly armour - Amarr Zealot sorta looks like the Protoss scout ships.
Caldari have the looks of Terran - Problem is that Caldari have all these sharp angles and look like they are put together with plates... suggesting armour tank... but nope they are shields. - Terran had the armour tank as they should, they just look it... Caldari should be that way too.
...the Zerg... - Drone complexes and the such... not really any of the races Gallente or Minmatar have that look..
So I ask, what ships can you relate? -Steve

The stories behind the two games are far too different to really compare.
You could say that the Caldari are most like the Zerg, "All for the good of many", as it were. You are a cog in a machine, nothing more. Caldari ships have an industrial look to them, similar to the Terrans.
On the same token, Protoss ships do resemble the Amarr (except Amarr ships are ugly and Protoss ships are not ). However, they are most like the Minmatar -- they are warriors, but at the same time, very spiritual. The hierarchy of Protoss command is similar to Amarr/Caldari, though.
The Gallente have the least resemblance to anything Starcraft related. You could take bits and pieces, at a stretch. Drone users (Protoss carrier/reaver), and they have the best transports (Zerg Overlords). The democratic society had no place in the world of Starcraft, though. ----- Griffin -- 100,000 ISK ECM - Multispectral Jammer Is -- 20,000 ISK Standar Missile Launcher Is -- 10,000 ISK War target sobbing over losing a fight in his T2 fitted Battleship -- priceless |

Edited by: Topaz Skydiver on 08/02/2007 12:48:22 Think the only relation is really that zerging has found it's way into EVE. ( I refer to the first meaning, never heard of the 2nd one, although it might fit, too. )

I dont know about Starcraft, but some of the EVE ships remind me of ships from other sci-fi movies/shows.... The Gallente destroyer reminds me of the B-wing The Amarr freighter reminds me of the rebel transport ship The Mammoth reminds me of the Galactica (no idea why) The Event Horison looks like it belongs in the Gallente fleet
I got more, just cant think of them atm

Yeah we used to go on and on about what the different things SOUNDED like they were saying but it's been so damned long that "My life for hire!" is the only one I could remember.
I used to love clicking them wildly to get their secondary sayings. I think that should be a law that every game has that feature.

I've always thought the game "Tachyon: The Fringe" has loads of healthy similarities to EVE. Such as: Ships have similar style hi, mid and low slots Jumpgates (except they are used to jump between places in a system, as well as between systems) Weapons consist of projectiles energy weapons and missiles (you can also fit afterburners ) You can jam ships there are two races to choose from that vaguely resemble minmatar and gallente.
It would actually make a great "pre- EVE" backstory game.

On that topic, the Caldari frieghter Charon looks much like the cryo-containers you have to rescue just after the siege of the homeworld. The 3rd mission of Homeworld 1.
Minmatar Freighter = Jawa Sandcrawler from star wars. Abbadon = Protoss Carrier Crusader = Protoss Corsair Cormorant = Terran Battlecruiser Malediction = Tie Interceptor Rifter = Pod Racer Hurricane = Star Destroyer (Clone wars version) Merlin = Terran Wraith (sort of only with wings bent down a bit) Thanatos = Taidan carrier (from Homeworld) Succubus = Protoss Reaver Amar Shuttle = A-Wing Amarr Titan Avatar = (Homeworld) Enemy motherships you encounter in the nebula.
I guess Gallente would be zerg if anything as their ships have an organic feel to them. That and all the drone swarm.
Tristan looks like something Gundam-ish.
Wreath is definately an old locomotive.
