Edited by: Little Girly on 09/02/2007 11:32:18 Burst II
Emits random electronic bursts intended to disrupt target locks on any ship with lower sensor strengths than the ECM burst jamming strength.
Now tell me why my ship with over 100 sensor strength is losing it's lock sometimes when a burst is used near me? Burst can't get higher than around 18 strength with a maxed rook pilot, so any ship with above 18 strength should not get any problems with locking, this is not the case. This is being exploited by a few and to be honest, in it's current form it is extremely overpowered. Right now Burst is not acting as it does in the description. Right now it's an AE chance based lock breaker, capable of ranges of up to 23km with good skills on EW ships.
The fact is this module is not supposed to work if a ships sensor strength is higher than the strength of the burst.

Maybe they made this chance based too? Basing the outcome of combat on the actual setups rather than a random number generator in London is so '90s. ----------

Yes, it seems to be chance based, however the description says that ships with a higher sensor strength than the burst strength will not lose their lock.

ECM Bursts were changed to a chance based system along with the other ECM modules, but it looks as though someone forgot to change the description.

Now ECM bursts are overpowered too? You can't be serious. Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

Actually if there is a chance they'll fail within their max range against ships with lower sensor strength than their jamming strength I'd say their underpowered really.
That's the problem with chanced based, can't really balance something which is different every time. ----------

LOL That's what I assumed when I walked into this thread too. I never imagined someone would be crying nerf on the ECM bursts.
I've used them to great effect myself, but tbh a lot of people think I'm crazy with the stuff I equip sometimes. Bursts have crap range, a random chance of actually doing anything, and use a good chunk of cap for the possibility of a "get-out-of-lock-free card". Lady Luck and I are usually pretty tight, so I like having the fallback of a burst. I can't say I've ever heard anyone claim them to be overpowered though. You people cry a lot. ECM burst is overpowered? A lock-breaking-only cap-sucking virtually-useless module? Pathetic thread, 3/10. ----------------------------
