Well I've got to the stage now where I'm not sure what to train next. I've got the skills I need for what I do, so now I've got to find other things to train. And occasionally I get in a Dominix with rialguns in it, so I thought "let's do railgun skills".
Then I saw this:
250mm Prototype I Gauss Gun rate of fire 6,38 sec optimal range 29 km damage modifier 3,3x accuracy falloff 12 km trackingspeed / accuracy 0,023 rad/sec
250mm Railgun II rate of fire 6,38 sec optimal range 29 km damage modifier 3,3x accuracy falloff 12 km trackingspeed / accuracy 0,023 rad/sec
There is a slight difference between these two guns in terms of powergrid and CPU usage, but I run T2 drones as main weapon and have powergrid and CPU to spare.
So can anyone tell me what the point in training railgun specialisation (the above example is Medium, but Small and Large are the same) is? The above suggests that for anything above Small, you're looking at a couple of weeks of training for no apparent reason. -------------

small med large rail specs give a dmg mod per lvl trained in them :P so the t2 250mm railgun will hit much harder with spec trained than the named one

3 reasons:
1.) Each Level of specialisation adds 2% damage (but they use more Grid/Cap). 2.) Only with T2 guns you can use T2 ammo (although some will argue that T2 ammo got nerfed to oblivion) 3.) T2 guns are often cheaper then their named T1 counterparts.

Edited by: Cenelia on 09/02/2007 20:16:43 the t2 guns get 2% bonus per level from the skill as well. So if you have level4 in the specialization skill the t2 gun gets 8% damage bonues that the named version doesnt.
edit: CURSES forum removed the setting again so not posted with main >.<

Read up on T2 ammo types, it makes a big difference.

t2 ammo, some of them give a massive range bonus(and deal a lot more damage still then most t1 closerange ammo) - When talking about the itsy bitsy spider, try not to start with itchy, you'll get the second part wrong as well |

2 kinds of T2 ammo but you can also use normal T1 ammo and still have the 2% extra damage/skill-lvl.

Just don't use all T2 ammo on a destroyer. The penalities can cripple it. MMoving 40m/sec is NOT fun.
