I am trying to get some kind of shield tank setup for my Maelstrom but as usual struggling with cap problems. I have seen setup with cap rechargers and cap boosters.
My question is which one will be the best and why as I cant quite figure out which one will be the best.
My ship loadout will look some thing like this but not 100% worked out yet.
High 6 x 800mm ac 2 x cruise launchers
Mid 1 x Xl shield booster ii 1 x shield amp ii 1 x invun ii ? these are for my cap problems
Low 3 x pdu ii 2 x gyro ii
DonĘt worry about my top or bottom slots, as I only want to sort out my cap problems so I can sustain my Shield tank for now.

You might want to look at CCC rigs as well.

Checked your setup using QuickFit. If you use 3x Cap Recharger t2 and 3x CCC rigs you can get the shield tank to permarun (with maxed cap and shield skills) keeping the cap at ~35%.

Thanks for the info Red harvest, i should of said i was tying to avoid rigs for a while as they are stil over priced.
I had never heard of the Quickfit program until you mentioned it tho and what a program it is.
Thanks

If you are planning to pvp then I would recommend a cap. injector because rechargers are not as efficient; just more economical.

No pvp with this slow beast, only for lv4 mission running. Nos will kill my shield tank on this baby so no pvp for this one.
I got a Vegabond for pvp

Well, I dont fly a tempest, but with short range guns, no propulsion mods or web, how exactly are you gonna get in range of anything?

This post was for sorting out a nice little shield boost with the hoping i could take out the battle ships at range and leave my drones to do the dirty work short range.
Thats why i said i was only looking to sort out the cap problems for now, as long as i can tank i can use trial and error on the gunns with out causing me any pain. The 800mm gunns are just worst case senario so people can see what cpu or power grid i will have left.
But thanks for you input

Well, you definetely need more resistances.
I'd advice forgetting about sustaining the shield tank, as that is very very hard and will gimp the rest of your setup... boosting your resistances more would help far more in the long run.
I'd suggest this for the mids; XL booster Amp 3x Hardener (3x invuls for angels, change according to rats) Large cap booster.
This would allow you to tank most mission spawns without using the cap booster using short bursts of the Shield booster, and the cap booster will allow you more time to tank those tough spawns. Cap boosters are chea, and you should be able to carry a few of them with you. Sigs are for noobs. |

I am begining to think you are right, relying on the shield tank is seeming a bit pointless. I just wanted something a little diffrent than the norm.
Anyway thanks for all who as responded

Well, you can definetely rely on the shield tank, but you definetely can't sustain it. But then, you don't need to.
You can sustain shield tanks, but this requires expensive Gist boosters. Sigs are for noobs. |
