I gave up on Worlds Collide last night as my Ibis couldn't get me to the jump gate before the pirates destroyed me (twice). I'm now doing delivery missions and easier combat missions so I can save up for a better ship. Once I've got a better ship, is there any way I can retry Worlds Collide, maybe through a different agent?

try it in a better ship - the Ibis isn't very good - get a Merlin or Kestral - you'll find missions a lot easier with those ships.

Yes, go get a merlin or kestrel when you have the isk. Don't forget the insurance. And please do not take the shiny new pride of your fleet into worlds of collide. The second stage will probably eat it up in under 60 seconds. It got mine.
There are lots of threads on worlds of collide, mostly because everyone has lost ships in the second stage, before learning how to beat this mission. You either need to race through the second part to escape before you are shot up (so look at the speed of the frigates + afterburner, not pure combat power), or be prepared for what is a tough fight.
One possible solution is to use a destroyer. Now you can kill everything on all three parts if you want, very profitable for a level 1 mission, and about 40 salvage parts if you are into salvaging.
There are other ways to beat this mission. Since your character is new, you always have to filter the solutions offered on the forums, some will be isk dependent (and you won't have enough yet) and some will be skill dependent (to get the right ship fitting, or just the right ship).
Welcome to Eve. There is a particular satisfaction succeeding in the missions that destroyed your ship before.
