EVEMon Development Team is announcing the release of EVEMon v3.0.0-RC1.
Download it directly from our repo here.
For EVEMon v3.0.0 we made a lot of changes, breaking and non-breaking, fixed a lot of "little things", updated over 50% of the code-base, in order to give you, the user, a better experience. This version sees the removal of the EMUU, the drop of Windows XP support and the (unfortunate) removal of all BattleClinic features. On the bright side though, it sees an improvement on the startup time, the addition of a global EVE data browser and overall a more responsive app due to the utilization of the power of TAP.

We are not yet going to release EVEMon v3.0.0-RC1 via the auto-update mechanism, cause we like you, our deticated users, to test this verison out and report any findings in this thread. Do not use BattleClinic forum for that.
Here are some things you should know, if you are going to evaluate this version.
- EVEMon v3 no longer works with Windows XP. - EVEMon v3 requires .NET Framework 4.6.1 installed on your machine. - Once upgraded to EVEMon v3 there is no posibility to downgrade back to EVEMon v2 (if you do so, you will lose all your settings). If you like to evaluate EVEMon v3 and still keep EVEMon v2 on the same machine you can run EVEMon v3 in portable mode. Below is a guide on how to run EVEMon in portable mode. - You cannot run EVEMon v3 and EVEMon v2 at the same time. - Use the installer if you want to upgrade to EVEMon v3 period. - Use the binaries if you only want to evaluate EVEMon v3 (or you are using it with Wine).
A guide on how to run EVEMon in portable mode. In order to run EVEMon in portable mode, follow these steps:
- Download the binaries from the download section.
- Extract the files to their own folder, other than the one you have EVEMon installed already (if you have so).
- Copy the 'settings.xml' file from EVEMon's Data Directory (%APPDATA%/EVEMon) to the folder you extracted the files of the previous step.
If you don't already have a 'settings.xml' file, create an empty file and name it 'settings.xml'.
- Run EVEMon from within the folder (or create a shortcut to use from anywhere else).

However, you mentioned it runs under Wine, and that is interesting to me (especially now that the EVE Launcher is working toward running the client under Wine directly instead of Cider). Is any guidance available on how to get EVEMon running? My google searches have only turned up things that are several years old.

Thanks! To be honest with you I have no idea how to run EVEMon under Wine. Never attempted to do so. I frankly don't believe that Wine supports running .NET 4.6.1 (https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=2586) but I wrote it just in case of future availability. |

only thing is the cloud settings .. useing dropbox for it atm .. they dont seem to upload well when closeing evemon not really sure what triggers the upload .. close from the file menu ? .. ( i just lick the X .) .. anyway .. when i open up evemon it seems to load a old settings file for a moment .. then updates wallets and other stuff via api ..
any way to meybe get it periodically update to cloud ? .. (or a manual upload button in the main screen )
even tho it dose update the wallets and skilsl and other stuff quite fast the notifications ( new mails, finished indy and contracts ) they seem to hang around even after the update .. pileing up from new ones even ..
just did a manual upload after X-ing all the notifications i had .. close and reopen and they didint pop up ..
i have the always upload, download and use immediatly turned on ..
anyone had similar issues ? .. meybe conna try out google drive next ? ..
no AV isseus sofar .. tho the issue i had with the last version solved it by booting the AV i used and installed Avira :)

Now that I'm done with the first batch creating EVEMon Docs on read the docs I have some free time to look at this. If I recall correctly I haven't added any code to handle closing from the X button for the cloud storage service, but I'll have a look at the code to be sure.

There is no point to periodically upload while you are using EVEMon. You gain nothing and you only use bandwidth pointlessly.
Adding a manual button in main window is a design "no no". Same reason we don't have a manual "Check for updates" button.

This works this way since notifications was introduced in version 1.3.0.

If this issue appears on one cloud storage service it applies to all of them. No point to try it out on another. Just be patient and let me have a look at it. I will post back with any findings.
Been using Windows Defender for years and I'm quite happy and sane. |

Just release EVEMon v3.0.0-RC2. Try it out. |

Only as what ever controls it doesn't allow for skill points being sold in eve seems a bit pointless to have it. for example I have 64 million sp in eve but eve mon i have 84 mill so new points are added to that total so it will never match what eve says i have.

Can confirm. Complaints have been received (in a professional manner) with detailed information on how to reproduce the defect. Can also confirm CCP is bad and takes a long time to fix API bugs. :(

in the enhancements for v3 you listed https://bitbucket.org/EVEMonDevTeam/evemon/commits/61dbaf7d919e. However, for me that's a huge drawback since I can no longer have multiple windows for the same character open e.g. to compare them, create my own skill plan based on a few from other sources and stuff like that.
It's a feature I've been using quite a lot, if people didn't like that, it should at least become configurable. |

This isn't relevant to the 3.0 branch, but 2.2.2 (with default settings) continuously notifies the user if an account has no characters in training, even if the account is inactive. I'm hoping this behavior is unintended.

Finally found out there is a v3 I downloaded it today night and testet it. Worked through skillplans and the usual Evemon stuff it worked like a charm for several hours. After sleep and having the computer turned off it somehow refused to work anymore. It just completely freezed.
Most of the time it freezed on start up, sometimes during me trying to do any action within it. I use the portable version. The process in the task manager showed 0% CPU usage when this happened and always different amounts of used RAM. I use Windows 10. I never get any error messages but if Evemon creates logs by any chances let me know and i will upload it to a pastebin.
It looks like a restart of the computer solved that problem, at least i see no problems even after several time opening and closing evemon now. |

I wanted to separate the distribution of v2 from v3 due to the many breaking changes. Clickable link is not possible in a .net message box (thought there are some ways to simulate it, I didn't wanted to get into that depth).
Next releases of v3 will be distributed via EVEMon's auto-updater though (via the v3 separate channel). |

Every time I try and install, it says I don't have the right version of .net installed. Halfway through installing that dotnetfx file or something, it will randomly try and restart my PC, then after 2 minutes it will stop (after saying EVEMon installer was preventing me from shutting down), and claim it failed to install. This is on Windows 10.
I got around it by installing .net 4.6.1 manually myself from Microsoft's website, but just figured you might wanna be aware. |

It's a false positive. Nothing to worry about. Add an exception in AVG for EVEMon.

Nothing wrong with EVEMon as I have tested the installer in 3 diff machines. Something is up with your WinX but never the less manually installing .NET version is the right alternative action in this case.

Using windows 7 I had errors when trying to start it. I went and installed the net framework seperately to see if that was it, but that doesn't seem to have fixed it either. I went to report the issue like it says to do on the error popup but it says access is denied to bitbucket.org/EVEMonDevTeam/evemon/issues

Every time I move a skill (or a bunch of selected skills) in the "Plan editor" the cursor moves to the top of the plan instead of staying on the selection. It happens with:
- Drag and drop.
- Each click of the up/down arrow to shift skills in the que. Forget trying to shift a series of skills several positions in the plan. It won't work because the selection gets lost when the cursor moves to the top. It does not matter if I drag-and-drop or use the arrow keys (with the arrow keys it moves to the top with each click).
I can't seem to find a setting that controls the behavior. This is so irritating that it cannot be intended! What am I missing? |

I know this might be a odd request, but on the Overview page would there be a way to "Group" all of the characters that are on the same account?. I don't think this would be useful for people who have only two or three accounts, but for anyone who has more than that then it could be really nice. They do seem to group naturally anyhow but it would still be nice.

Is there a need for a new uploader? The CREST API has a perfect view of all market data in the galaxy now, doesn't appear to be a great reason to rely on cache-based data anymore save for real-time station trading, which specialized software like Evernus excels at.
As for the grouping of accounts, I'll look into that! |

I have not looked into crest.
It's just that the market sites at first glance seem to be missing a ton of information, so I can only guess that crest updates slowly or something?.. Perhaps people are not using the sites and the crest info is not getting reequsted?.. I missed out on that whole "Crest" thing, but the little bit I have gleaned looks like it's just CCP making many things public via some form of API.
Guess I should look into it more as CCP have made it virtually a requirement now if you want to be a huge producer.
Another, perhaps issue?.. when evemon is not minimized, I have to "close" it twice for it to close, is that normal behavior? |

Several skills had their requirements reduced in the last patch without it being mentioned in the patch notes. It looks like EVEMon still has the old requirements for them.
Advanced Weapon Upgrades now only needs Weapon Upgrades IV instead of V. Nanite Interfacing and Nanite Operation now only need Mechanics IV instead of V. Guided Missile Precision now only needs Missile Launcher Operation IV instead of V. Signal Dispersion, Signal Suppression, Signature Focusing, and Weapon Destabilization now only need CPU Management IV instead of V.
It was mentioned by CCP Fozzie a while ago (in this thread here), and it was changed in the 118.6 patch, but doesn't appear to have made it into the patch notes.
All of these still have their old requirements set in EVEMon 3.0.2. |

I see that, now. The pre-req's "Required For" didn't get updated, but the actual skills' "Required" tab did.

I cannot find a download for 3.02 but when i run 3.01 it tells me an update is available. However, I can't install the update because it always prompts me for administratior credentials which i don't have. I have installed "portable" mode as described in this thread.

Any chance of setting up a PlayOnLinux script for EVEMon? EVE Can be easily installed with PlayOnLinux already.
I got the EVEMon 3.0.2 working in PlayOnLinux with
1) Created 32bit wine prefix for it with PlayOnLinux gui. 2) Installed dotnet45 3) Set the OS version to Windows 7 4) Downloaded and installed the .NET 4.6 from M$ 5) Unpacked the EVEMon inside the prefix 6) Ran the following (in the created EVEMon directory) sudo setcap CAP_NET_RAW=ep /usr/bin/wine sudo setcap CAP_NET_RAW=ep /usr/bin/wineserver sudo setcap CAP_NET_RAW=ep EVEMon.exe ( They allow EVEMon to send ICMP Ping requests - which is forbidden from non-roots with my OS ) 7) Created new shortcut to EVEMon.exe with PoL
Voila. EVEMon works with a desktop shortcut. :)
OS: Manjaro Linux
$ wine --version wine-1.9.18 (Staging) (installed from aur - wine-gaming-nine)

Odd install issue here - Evemon keeps complaining on missing dotnet (4.6.1), which is up to date (4.6.2).
Anyone seen that, and possible solution?
Would be great being able to run an up to date version :) |
