Greetings all.
I have recently read on these forums of players who in 0.0 solo. Until that time I had believed that 0.0 was the exclusive domain of Corps and Alliances.
This has lead me to make this post. I have been looking into starting a small Ship Equipment manufacturing buisness, primarily Drones to see how I fair at it. Initial calculations show thast almost 50% of my potential profit will go to buying ores I cannot mine in high sec space.
So, is it a viable plan to live in 0.0 and get these ores myself? I currently use a retriever with plans for a coveter when I start to make an income. I will have an alt as a hauler who can also deal with anmy rat problems.
How do I go about setting up a solo presence in 0.0? Are there NPC stations I can use as a base. Do I need to contact the areas current Corp/Alliance and request permission for access, and does thisd incure a charge?
If anyone can provide any details about how I could go about such an endevour, or indeed anyone that can represent such a corp that would let a budding manufacturer enter there systms for a few hours of mining a day, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.

There's a good guide here. Someone ought to sticky it already. I don't know how good the market for drones etc is in 0.0 since I have my own BPOs for the mods/ammo I need and build them with the minerals I get from reprocessing loot. I think you're better off selling ammo/drones in lvl4 mission hubs but if your research suggests otherwise then by all means go conquer 0.0.

it would save you a lot of time to gather all your goods, stuff the items into a industrial with the t2 cargo expanders, undock, self destruct, rinse-repeat until it is all gone, then start from scratch right away...because if you goto 0.0 solo as a miner with a barge, the end result will be the same.

yah hate to say it but if you want to solo .0 for ratting there are places you can def survive as long as you dont get greedy and not warp away when "ANYONE" comes in the system.
Their is no such thing as a pirate in .0 just remember that every pilot youll see is a pirate by empire standards. There are no negotiations no trading with them no deals. Make a crap load of sp's and constantly warp between them.

As far as mining solo in .0?
First retriever aint gonna do it. It's simply to slow to warp for even ninja mining (we are disregarding other pilots) the rats will kill ya to fast.
Ur gonna basically need a hulk to make it viable.
Hulk will tank any .0 rat anywhere with the right setup.
Thing is hulk gonna run ya 600mil+ with fittings.
Other thing is a hulk is an easy pop for any pvp (or even npc) fittited player ship.
Your still to slow to warp. so in short order others gonna know that if they see you online your in a hulk most likely (a sweet kill I might add) and their gonna go right for ya.
Can buy alot of drones for that.
If your gonna mine in .0 solo no corp and your dead set on it. Then at least use a bs. Ninja mine dont pick the best system in the area to mine in. If you can look it up and find that system "x" has the best ore in the area to mine. Well guess what. So can pvpers lookin for easy targets. At least make it hard on them.
Personally if your still dead set on giving it a go. (wouldn't if I were you personally find a corp) then syndicate is probably best place to look. For all it's mass pirates ect that rome around it's always been one of the more docile areas once you learn the in's and outs.

The key to mining in 0.0 is relatively easy as it goes .. and you can solo ...ive been doing it for years ...!
There is knack to it though ... obviously your after the good ores aand minerals ... to mine these you have to find systems that have the good ores like ochre krokite etc near to or one jump in from a 0.6 or 0.7 - the majpor corps will have owenrship of the really good stuff and mining it will be impossible unless your sneaky.
Ochre is a great ore to mine in 0.0 ... head to orvolle and one jump into 0.0 in the first ssystem you have ochre ... ! ochre gives zydrine ... ! 400 units gives you about 225 untis of zydrine ... 400units of ochre takes up about 4500 m3 of argo space ... !
Get yourself a hauler the bigger the better ...! park it in safe -- then get yourself aan exequror ... fit it out sso it has ab or mwd .. pref mwd ... and as many lasers as you can fit .. i used to use three miner twos with a 1000 cargo space (one expander or so) .
Start to mine with your exeqquror by zzipping through the belts fistly to seee which one has no rats in it .. !The rats cycle ie tey move from belt to the next ... so once you find the one (there always belts with no rats in in every system) each spawn is around 20 mins or so ... each NO spawn just moves to the next belt .. ! So to mine you just move to the next belt when the rats come ..!
Fill your exeq up and then unload it to your hauler ... ! and repeat process .. ! Exeq aare quite fast warpers you get about ten seconds or more before (if theres a rat spwan on your head) to warp out to the next belt .. plenty of time actually youll find..! Abd mine away .. you will lose a few exeqs once in a while to pirates ... but if your fast (fit a stab) youll be aand earn far more thaan you lose .. ! I mined ten k of zydrine in an afternoon one time .. !
When your hauler is full just swap ships in safe from your exeq to your hauler .. and fly the hauler out unload and repeat .. day after day after day after day ... eeasy ..!
There are a number of 0.0 systems that have good ore only jump in from 0.5 or so ... ! Orvolle is one example ..! i usually fly to about 60 k from the asteroid belt to find the one that has no rats then to 40k use my mwd to cover the distance to the ASTEROIDS once i have found the belt with no rats .. theres two at any one time i think in thaat system next to orvolle ..!
once your making money you should be abl to live in 0.0 relatively easily ... rat using cruisers - not too expensive to lose ....! You can build easily by reprocessing the materials from the rats without having to mine .. ! Easy as that .. ive been soloing in 0.0 for years ..! i built a tempest out there on the mins from drops and item reprocessing in about two weeks i think it was ..!

Thanks for all the reposnses, some good info I will most certainly try.
I should maybe have come across a little better about my current setup. I have mined in 0.0 solo, in a procurer no less :D, but this was as part of a corp :D Rats are not an issue, my alt can deal with them.
It was mostly info on how to get in 0.0 corpless was my main concern, Ideally I was hoping to find ways to get permission from corps to enter their space from time to time, but I will try some of your tips. Much appreciated.
