AND AN AFK CLOAKER CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO YOU!
Shocking as it may be, even a pilot at the keyboard can't do jack squat to you while he or she is cloaked.

Unsuspecting? How exactly do you propose a spy circumvent you simply glancing at the local chat tab to detect his/her presence? And how much spying do you expect someone to accomplish if it's under your terms... if you're given the tools to either kill or force them out of your system?
Originally by: Sirob Let me cite an example of something that might need improvement...
Your "example" boils down to either a) taking precautions or b) face ship destruction... in 0.0 space. Oh noes! Golly, you don't think that was intended, do you??
Originally by: Sirob In short, "lock down" does not mean "run and hide," it means "go into pvp mode." If you are ridiculing an alliance because they "go into pvp mode" when enemies are around, you need to get your head fixed.
What I'm ridiculing is an alliance with the apparent arrogance to presume they don't have to be in at least some form of "pvp mode" AT ALL TIMES while milking 0.0 for profit. What you're asking for, or rather demanding, is effectively RSVP notice of when to enter "lock down" mode, twenty minutes or less to dispatch your enemy(s), and then the luxury of being able to go back to carebearing it up in your "safe" refuge of 0.0 space.
Originally by: Sirob Tell me Blue Alt, why do YOU PERSONALLY want the game to let people go AFK for hours or days on end in other peoples systems, in the middle of space, in a combat equipped ship?
Because I want people like you to treat 0.0 space like 0.0 space, and not freaking Empire. Furthermore, I like that cloaking serves a purpose in this game besides just a novelty for ganking n00bs in low sec.
Originally by: Sirob Fair != always being able to kill the bad guys. Fair = having reasonable options when confronted with a problem or situation.
Who's to determine what is "reasonable" now? You?
Like many forum posters, your interpretation of "fair" is precipitated by what affects YOU. If it doesn't bother you, well then I guess it's fair and working as intended. However if it does bother you... ZOMG fix this CCP!
God forbid you might have to routinely fly an escort with your miners, 'cause that would be boring and cut into your oh so precious profit margin.

Blue Pixie seems to love to take peoples explanations out of context. I don't think anyone mentioned making 0.0 space a totally secure carebear land. It seems reasonable though that if an alliance makes a home out of a system, they should have the possibility of keeping their enemies out of their home, provided they work hard to meet that end. ------------------------ |

Work hard? You mean wasted/boring profit/time?
The OP doesn't want to work hard; he wants CCP to nerf warp and cloak.
Why? Because he can't be arsed to escort his miners.
Are we even reading the same thread?

So basicly what u are asking for is, that claimed 0.0 is no longer "unsafe" space?
IT'S 0.0 GET USED TO THE CONSTANT DANGER.

As I cov ops and soon to be recon pilot, I totally agree with the OP. The only issue here is AFK cloakers.
As has been said many times, a probe with 15-30 minutes scan times and that landed you within 25km of the cloaked ship would be completely harmless to active cov ops pilots, whilst allowing a determined force to remove the currently invulnerable afkers.
The argument that an afk cov ops pilot is harmless is missing the point. He's only harmless if he's afk and (important bit here!) you know he's afk. Otherwise you have to assume he's active and therefore very non-harmless.
Important note: As a counter-nerf to this nerf, I would support the removal of local (or a change to constellation chat). This would make cov ops truely covert (rather than the current 'I know he's here I just don't know where' situation). This would require groups like the OPs to be organised and assign at least one scanning ship to be on constant guard for the rest of the herd.

How about a special feature in the Cov ops ship that always makes you have a blue standings marker in the local window instead?

Other threads in which the topic of AFK cloakers is discussed seem to be being plagued by the same few pro AFK cloak alts/people, sprinkled here and there with random people who probably don't understand thats its not normal cloakers but only AFK cloakers that people want action taken against. At any rate, expect Blue Alt to post here saying "How can they hurt you if they are AFK?" or something.
Anyways, I'm posting because I've seen a few people mention future POS modules that are actually in the planning phase at CCP which might help with the issue at hand. Are these POS modules really being considered at CCP or was that only speculation from a player?
