One of the reasons that I enjoy EVE is that I am not judged by my age, but by my ability. I personally find a large portion of my age group to be dull and easily fulfilled by colorful elves and WOW risk less environment. For this reason I enjoy playing with adults.
I think you would find there are more "young" players out there than you would imagine, but they sort of young player who enjoys this game is not likely to be obvious without team speak, and even there are ways around that if someone is really determined. I generally find that people will assume that I am of a similar age, and when they find out I am not they do not change in their treatment, if only because habits die hard, and you can't easily mock the fleet commander, or a stalwart friend you have flown with, and fought alongside.

So you mean to tell me that after a person is 16, they become 17? Please, do tell more!
Why is it that young people often use the "(age) going on (age + 1)" formula when communicating their age? Is their some famous childrens book most of them are required to read in school where the main character identifies his age using that formula? It sounds like it could be a line from Tom Sawyer or something.
kinda harsh there I mean its just a sentence he used... we all understood

I have come to believe that age is of minor relevance in games.
I'm about the middle, closing in on 30 (though, out of my moms basement!), and I have learned a lot from both older and younger players in the games I've played. There is always some different viewpoints based on the individual backgrounds and age, but if you use it as a chance of learning something new instead of focusing on the differences (age in this case) you'll most likely get a long fine.
That said, it's always nice to have others in your own range. To make a saturated example; Young girls might be more interested in Barbie dolls than knitting recipes.
But I don't know what your reasons is for posting this. If it's simply the reason to start a corp with a younger base, it's all fine. I can see your character have been playing for quite a while and has a lengthy resume. In case you had bad experiences earlier because of age, I naively believe it's just rotten apples; bad luck.
Enjoy, and fly safe..

Hehe. ex-wow player here, but I found the light, which I think mmo'ists call EvE :)
WoW is just getting good armor and owning other players, but the pure power of this game is that it is not always you're equipment in ops/pvp that wins you that pot of gold, it is the skill and knowledge you have within the game.

12 here. When I started playing I thought I was one of the older people playing because of all the smack. Personally I've seen more 20 year olds acting like 7 year olds than I have seen actual 7 year olds acting their age. <-- bit confusing but meh ---------------------------

Sorry, had to be done ;) And for someone that remembers a great deal of the 80's (and the horrors therein) it frightens me that there are some here that weren't even a twinkle in their parents eyes yet...

I started playing online games when I was 13 with a little game called Total Annihilation: Kingdoms on MPlayer back in the summer of 1999. Then in November, when I was 14, I started playing my first MMO, Everquest 1. Back then it was awesome, and hard to find people around my age! In fact, the guild I was in for 5 years consisted mostly of parents and grandparents. I stopped playing EQ back in 2004, then through various MMOs I find myself here.
I first tried Eve a year and a half ago, but I didn't like it at all. Mostly cause people kept telling me "go mine! Do some mining!" I've never been a fan of trade skills in other games, and mining bored me to tears, so 2 days after my trial started I uninstalled. Recently tried the game again, but this time I started doing missions and I fell in love with the game.
You can figure out my age in the first paragraph.
