I have no problem with the overview being transparent as such - its potentially useful.
What i don't like it when i click on it and there's something behind it I select the something rather than the the item on the overview.
Suggestion - whenever a player clicks on part of the overview they always select the overview item and not the object behind it.

Agreed. Or at least the behaviour should be the same whether you click through a transparent overview or a transparent cargo bay for example. Right now it isn't.
But I don't like the ability to click through at all. And especially with the overview as this list is a tool for selecting items regardless of their position in space. So please no more click through there!

Edited by: Tarron Sarek on 11/02/2007 19:24:25 Ah, while the topic title promised a rather flametastic posting, I'm quite happy that it isn't. Therefore I can wholeheartedly agree.
Perhaps add to this an overall faster UI, because the fps drop dramatically when your mouse moves for example up and down the overview. Just try it. It seems that the mouse over effects (overview highlighting/selecting, map tooltips) don't comprise the most efficient code.
edit: even if it's a perfect piece of programming, it should be changed to improve UI performance.

Yeah, this happens a lot. It's especially annoying when I'm in a slow-locking battleship and I ctrl-click the primary, but wind up selecting some dang frigate or something. One of my locks is out of commission for half a minute.
It's an easy way to get Concorded in high-sec, too, if you've turned off the warning and lock some guy's wreck behind the overview in a complex.
