Edited by: Nvermind on 11/02/2007 16:31:05 Have found me a Lvl4 agent... have to use him as my region of space has a severe lack of Republic fleet agents.
How hard are these missions exactly, what can you do them in?
I run level 3's afk in my hurricane atm...
Thanks

Really depends on your ship setup. For a fully buffed, T2/Faction fitted Caldari Navy Raven they are rather easy solo. Myself I use a mostly T2 fitted Abaddon and have never had trouble albeit it is not terribly fast at the missions (CNR FTW).
If you are a young pilot with low to moderate skills using a T1 fitted battleship or lower you can find them quite hard to impossible.

You want a very good tech2 tank on a battleship to do L4s efficiently.. be ready to warp out till you perfect it though.

Any mission in the game can be solo'ed right now.
For L4's you should really do your research first. Look it up at eveinfo or one of the other databases and see what comes in each wave so you can setup your tank correctly and you know what to, and what not to shoot.
With a bit of care and half way decent setup/skills you can blow through almost all of the L4's without trouble.. They they may take you several hours to do.

ive been running lvl 4s with my friend, and we do fairly well with one battleship and one battlecruiser. Any more than that (say another battlecruiser) and we start overlapping targets and the other ship cant get any kills.

As the others say: Lvl 4s are most efficiently done with a BS and Raven being the most used Mission runner ship. ----------------------------------------------- My Band's new Demo: Linkage to Site |

I run Lvl 4s in my Drake and i only have 3Mil Skill Points. There are only 3 missions i tend to decline, Angel/Guristas Extrav (haven't actually tried this yet), Worlds Collide, and Enemies Abound (I just don't like Warp Scramblers).
But other than that i battle through them. They are by no means as fast to run as LvL 3s, and you won't get through them as fast as you would in Raven etc BUT for gaining ISK, loot (although this is ****e now) and the salvage it still makes it worthwhile for me.

Probably the most common cause of death in lvl4s is scrambling frigs.
Just as your tank fails, you hit warp, to find out that you are going nowhere.
You need to know which frigs scram and kill them first.
You won't always be able to get range on them, and sometimes not much time to kill them, so t2 drones 4tw.

To the OP: Get yourself a lvl 3 angel/guristas/serpentis/whatever extravaganza. Do the bonus stage. If you can tank that with extreme ease, then start doing lvl 4's. Avoid Enemies abound, but most others are fine (again before ANY mission do some reading and find the scrambler frigs, kill them first with the exeption of Worlds collide, where you kill them last)
To sahjahn: This is my first time running guristas extravaganza, I'm running it right now (currently in the second stage tanking 4 pith ravens of varying names) I'll let you know how it turns out (going well atm, my sheld doesn't drop below 75%) I have 3.2mil skillpoints and a fully tech 1 fitted drake (though I do use rigs) Passive tanks FTW
I may end up upgrading myself to a raven though, as I fail to see why the drake is so much better at tanking... couldn't the bit of extra resists be made up for by slapping a multispec in the extra midslot the raven has?

Don't forget your smaller sig radius. The battleships can't hurt you as much in a Drake as they can in a Raven.

I'm afraid that's not quite true. Slap enough shield extenders on a drake and it'll be as big as a BS (well maybe not, havn't bothered checking but you get the idea) I asked in the ships and mods section, and was told that the reason the drake is so much better is because of it's shield recharge rate, did some math, and found it to be 100% true. I'm gonna be sticking to my drake for quite some time :P

Base sig radius for a Drake is 285m, so when actively tanked it is notably smaller than the 400m resolution of a battleships guns. When passively tanked, with 2 Large Shield Extender II's the sig radius is 335m, with a third the sign radius is up to 360m. So the size is still part of the reason.
For passively tanking the Drake will always out do the Raven because of the recharge rate difference. That is why a Raven is almost always actively tanked for level 4's.
The Drake's skill bonus to resists is also a part of the improved tanking because it is not subject to stacking penalties.
Ultimately a Raven can tank more damage because it can run XL Shield Boosters. But when properly piloted a Drake can take quite a beating as well.

As long as you are carefull, skilled a bit as a char and as a player, they are mostly easy to solo, a few you need to gang up until you are really hard.

I wouldn't fly a lvl4 in a ship you can't afford to lose. Lag spikes, scrambling frigs, and getting hit so often you can't align can easily take out your BS.

Well without Rigs my drake have 360 sig and with 3 shield rigs its 15-30% more (434 right now), depending on your rig skils :) I can do L3 Guristas extravaganza with easy (6 room shields dont go under 45% - without rigs) angel version is litle harder, but probably possible doable without rigs too.
With L4 i started yesterday and so far i did 3 missions L4 (hardest was 3 BS, 10 cruisers and 20 frigs hitting me same time with shields dont go under 60 percent and i had only 1 hardener for primary and 1 for secondary dmg)
6x Limos heavy missiles 3x LSE II, 2xPrimary and 1x secondary active hardener 2x SPR,2xBCU II 3x Shield recharge rig This giving me 16k shields with around 307s shieldrecharge time (shield skills betwen 3-5, BC lvl 3)
Problem with drake is his low dmg output compared to for example raven, but it can tank far better then raven before get uberskilled for BS.

I've been doing lvl4s with my domi since June '06 and only once lost a ship because I opened p@p and froze up my computer but that got reimbursed. Since drones are my main weapon I avoid Worlds Collide, Angel Extravaganza and Right Hand of Zazz
