Hi there,
So I'm getting a new PC (yay) and would like to have 2 monitors and I'm hoping to run 1 EVE client on each monitor. Do I need a second graphics card to do that?
I'm probably getting a 512MB GEFORCE 7950GT PCI Express + DVI + TV-OUT card. Also if that's a rubbish one please don't hesitate to point me in the direction of a better one. I've been reading about graphics cards but there's so much choice it's a bit overwhelming hehe.
So yeah, would I need a second graphics card to plug the second monitor into in order to play EVE on it or would 1 be okay? Also with just the one card and 2 monitors would EVE's performance suffer greatly?
Thanks, Amantus ------------ Combat miner |

And that graphics card will be fine. It's a very nice card and only the very expensive 8800's are really much better. __________________________________

You should be fine without a new gfx card. I run 2 monitors and 2 clients on my laptop gfx card. It's a bit choppy though. --------------------------------------------------------------------

I run two screens without issue. One card, two outputs. The benifit is Eve is built for it.
Go into the graphics settings (hit esc) and in there you will see a drop down at the top. It allows you to choose the window the game will run on, based on the connection to the video card, for each account.
I log one account, and it's set to the left monitor, and the second account, to the right.
Makes it smooth as.

QFT. I run eve on one 17 inch one 19 inch. Works brilliantly, though the FPS is kind of weird. I get about 30 in space, but when I use fraps it doenst drop at all, lol... ---

I run two monitorrs on a 7900gt without any problems. And I can recommend UltraMon as a little program that might help you set up ur desktop. Abandon all hope But take care of teh cake!11 - Immy |

I find Eve runs much better with both clients on one monitor, only move one over to the second monitor if I really need to. ----------

To leave the clients in windowed mode, but still see 100% of the window area (okay it's better experienced than explained) use EVE Launcher. I always found it to be buggy though, so there's also ShiftWindow whose link is on that page.
ShiftWindow also works with pretty much any game that can be windowed, you just have to keep it on your primary monitor if the game doesn't let you choose graphic adapters.
However if you'll never run more than one client at once, EVEMon has window repositioning built in, just go to the Options -> Eve Window Relocation.
Cheers

Awesome, thanks for all the replies. That'll save me a few quid since I don't need another card!
I'm looking forward to having 2 monitors. It should be pretty cool.
Yeah I've been using EVE launcher and it seems to be pretty good. I'll certainly carry on using it.

Im currently running:
AMD x2 64 5000+ 2 Gig Ram 1950 Pro
I run 2 accounts in window mode. Get 70 fps on each. What could i expect (fps wise) running the accounts on a screen each?

My rig:
Athlon X2 4600 2GB Ram 7950 GX2
If i run 2 clients on the same Monitor i am getting 80fps each. As soon as i drag one client to the second Display framerate drops to 30.

In display options for the client that drops to 30, go into options - display and change the gfx card to secondary --- http://static.griefwatch.net/gallery/18028383f236b20e4c0f6d7492e58408.gif
