You often see threads from new members along the lines of "What's the best way to make isk?" I can pretty well say that some have been tempted to visit Ebay and the like to buy isk off the farmers.
I just want to point out, that you don't need to focus on this to start with, isk is not the important thing. The only thing that realy matters is skills. That's what you need to focus on and nothing more to start with. Your isk making ability will grow with your skills. If you get a shed full of isk to start with, all you will do is end up loosing it, by investing in a ship your character can hardly fly, fitting lots and lots of very expensive faction mods, then getting realy upset when you loose it all in the first three seconds of PvP.
I know it may feel like you have a mountain to climb when you are new to the game and see others flying about in their s****y BS or T2 ships. But you are much, much better focusing on building your skills and making sure that you have enough isk on hand to meet your day to day needs.
Eve isn't like other games, you can't just buy your way into being a powerful character. So focus on developing your skills and the iskies will sort themselves out

Excellent points there, all very true. Experience is also a big thing to gain, as Max said having tons of cash and not the skills or the experience can and will work against you.
Train hard, stay focused and cash will follow.
Good luck

Edited by: Samuel Freedom on 12/02/2007 11:52:30 Edited by: Samuel Freedom on 12/02/2007 11:50:49 I more or less agree with you, but I do know someone who started playing the game and after 2 weeks decided she was going to stay and go down the indy route.
Now she sold some GTC, bought standard implants(+4) plugged them in and she is still to be podded. She buys the new stuff she needs it(ships strip II's) as soon as she can use it and to my knowledge she has not lost anything of any great value.
She is very suspicious and very carefull and stays in a NPC corp ect. Now she has quite alot of SP for her age and isk too from mining.
Me on the other hand well... I got podded on the 1,2,3 and 4th day of playing eve if I remember rightly all but one in low sec and twice I was on autopilot so doing what she did would deffo not work for me !
But for the right person buying GTC for resell can work but like you said if wnat to PVP and have fun then it is a really dumb idea to buy isk via GTC (buying isk any other way is illegal im prety sure about that).
Horse for courses.
