Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me I have a Moa and a Thorax, and bot equipped with 250 railguns, but plan to go farming with lasers, does anyone know which are the best lasers for these ships as I do not use them and thought I'd give it a try since I Use ammo like I eat M & M's
So can anyone help me please

Heavy pulses / heavy beams.
Also medium modulated focused pulses and beams are good for a extra slot filler when you hit your limit on power grid and want another wepon.
The quad's and standard focused you can just recycle. they are pretty worthless when you get down to it.

Thanks for that info, I take it I would use Multifrequency crystals or does that not matter

well it really depends. If you like to hunt at range then using a few diffrent lenses really makes sense. I normaly like to hit the rats at range with some radio's then whale on them from medium to short range with a misture of gamma and multi lenses.
Microwave and x-ray are pretty solid for medium range between raidos sniping distance and gamma and multis full on short range dmg.
Because there is no 10 second delay in switching lenses its always a good idea to carry several diffrent types with you.

My weap setup on my farming thorax is : 3 Heavy Beams with Radio for long range, and Multi under 20 Km + 1 250 with thorium.
I start firing @ 40 km (sharpshooting skill@lvl4)with 2 HB Radio fitted and use the 250/last Radio if needed.
Multi is use when hard situation come : warping in near a 20/30/40/50k spammer rat :if he's alone i fire all guns and got him as i've level4 Medium energy turret.If grouped, i use mwd...

If you like a secondary armament, a Moa is strong enough to still use Heavy Beams and preferably Heavy Pulses. Pulses are easier on the cap of ships not optimized for energy weapons. Named ones are preferable if you can afford them or hunt them, as these use less cap, with the Modulated brands using the least cap and giving the most damage.
A Thorax has less grid than a Moa so the lasers are less ambitious. Focused Beams or Pulses are recommended for secondary armament, especially named ones.
I find laser+hybrid and laser+projectile mixes more effective than pure setups. The reason why mixes work so well is that that lasers eat shields relatively quickly with thermal and EM damage while kinetic and explosive damage in railguns or cannons destroys armor. They balance out ammo use and moderates cap consumption even compared to Amarrian pure laser boats.
