Edited by: Dark Gleaming on 12/02/2007 18:51:50 I just moved back to Eve after years of DAOC and yes, a year in WOW, (I feel very dirty). I started Eve when it released, but left after about 4 months because the content was very immature. I toyed with Planetside then moved back to DAOC. I miss the adrenalin surge of PVP and look forward a life on the dark side here in Eve, now that the game has really matured. I'm currently training learning skills, but would ultimately like to move to 0.0 or lowsec space to pursue a life of alternative income & random exploitation for higher-educational purpose. When/How is the best way to transition to 0.0 and how hard is it to gain acceptance into a good 0.0 Corp? I left the NPC Corp (couldn't stand the chat) and formed my own Corp so its much quieter when I talk to myself! I'm an adult player (40 years old in age, not in mentality). Any advice, suggestions or acceptance would be greatly appreciated.
Happy New Yarr! DG

Join a player-corp that you don't run. Learn from other people- on your own you're not going to get much of anywhere. Try SniggWaffe if they're still recruiting, or just go to your local lowsec pirate haven and spam in local about wanting to join a pirate corp - after podding you, they'll probably let you in.
Another option is just join the ingame channel "recruitment" and work from there. But seriously, join another player-run corp, its much, much, much more fun and far far more instructive.

I agree wholeheartedly about joining someone elses Corp. I still had my original character (Akulax) that was in a small Corp (that since disbanded) so I put Dark in that Corp to get out of the Rookie Chat because it was annoying me! :P

*shameless plug* Try contacting Born2Kill from MicroFunks. some of my friends joined them as their first pvp corp and throughly enjoy it. They are a MErcenary/Pirate/Training corp for their big brother corp Funkstars.

Rookie chat is better than noob corp chat. For example:
xxxx > what do clones do?
xxxx > how do i send isk to my other character?
xxxx > HOw do you get Skill points while you're training a skill..?
xxxx > do the songs in the jukebox ever change?
xxxx > why is this astreoid field filled with security canisters??
xxxx > does anyone know what I should be doing?
xxxx > how can i send items from one character to another?
xxxx > and what point can you start 'safely' going into lower security zones?
xxxx > what do you click on to get to escrow?
xxxx > what is the purpose of the clones?
xxxx > do you gain any "xp" or summing from fighting?
xxxx > I have a small hull repairer 1 and my Armor is at 74% right now. It shows that it's turned on, but my armor hp is not increasing. What am I doing wrong?

Should I purchase a frigate/cruiser before heading to 0.0 or is it wiser just to take a shuttle and purchase a ship once you safely arrive in 0.0?

Frigate fitted to escape bubble camps. Cruiser would in all likeliness not make it. A shuttle is good too, but you might as well podjump down since at that point, it'll be faster.

I'm a VERY low SP char, although its nice starting out with just over 800K now. I'm finishing off some basic skills to level 3 such as some gunnery, navigation, and ship skill, but that should be done in the next few days. Am I to eager to bail to 0.0 at this stage or should I build up some more SPs? I see a lot of people saying its not "That" dangerous, but I also like to be more than just cannon fodder. Can a >1Mil SP character make it in 0.0?

That is probably going to depend on your definition of "making it". I do think that you would have some success with ratting etc if you had a friend or two. As far as piracy goes, people get complacent in .0 and complacency kills. You will probably be able to pick off random haulers/miners etc.
One thing that is easy to overlook is that being low sp means you will be needing new skill books quite often. So before you move out make sure to buy applicable books and you should be good to hook. Last time I lived out there books were not easy to get.
If you can secure a position in a corp that already has station access in a specific region more power to ya, if that is not possible your best bet would be to look into some regions where you wont need player set standings to dock, stain/curse I believe.
I do not know a lot about 0.0, this is just some things I figured may help ya. Fly wreckless and have fun
