I posted this orginally in the wrong forum.
While I love the idea of new content entering the game and that some of the problems with game mechanics are going to be redressed. I have yet to figure out how changing 20 things drastically at the same time helps balance anything?
Why is it that in every game I have ever played the word gradual is never a word used by developers?
Well, looking forward to the next 2 weeks worth of patches that will try and fix the fixs.

well you see it is all connected. It¦s like you¦re hosting a party and decide to invite a few close friends. Then you realize that some of your close friends have close friends that are also your friends but not as close as your close friend. Then you have to invite them and so on and so on (wow possibly the worst analogy ever )
To give you an example the devs fixed the load lag bug but then they also had to remove the invul timer. I guess more things are related but I¦m to tired to think of anything.
And btw I wished they had made all these changes more gradually. Maybe they just want all the whining at once __________ Capacitor research |

Miri,
These are not just ideas that have been kicking around in the dev's heads since the last major patch. These items are CURRENTLY PLAYABLE on Chaos, and players are in there right now actively testing out the changes to see how they work. ___winterblink/warp_drive_active/eve_nature_vraie// |

Well, I dont disagree that some are being tested on Chaos, but then so was the last big patch and we know how that turned out. That does not change my point which is that there are two ways to achieve balance... make gradual changes and evaluate the results and then make more changes or the way Dev's seem to make changes in every game I have played... pull out the trusty sledgehammer and the odd explosive and hope for the best.

I prefer the big bang effect thank you, its much more exciting. Also, I dont believe that your method is more efficient, only more grueling. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |

you have to realize each Tech patch will change the world completely. think of it as an expansion. in this patch they did a huge rebalance of things in this game world. its good. its not wrong, its inconvinient to a lot of people, but for some it just makes the game fun again.

I don't DISAGREE with what you're saying. I'm saying those gradual changes are in progress on Chaos, and if people want to be a part of, or provide input on, those changes they should be logging on to Chaos and evaluating them there. ___winterblink/warp_drive_active/eve_nature_vraie// |

Domino effect caused by actually testing the changes. It all started with the JIP Camping fix...
JIP Camping fix consisted of the jump in point being moved to the gate leading back to the solar system you just left and the player not appearing until after they moved or 60 seconds passed. The testing process revealed issues immediately:
1) Instant bookmarks: 100% Guaranteed escape through a gate leading out from a solar system. Already an existing issue. Solution: Warp Disruptor Field at the egress stargate.
2) Instant warp on autopilot: 100% Guaranteed escape from the jump in point with lag eliminated as a handicap. 2 Part Solution: Make ships have to reach a specific velocity before able to enter warp and place warp disruption field around jump in Stargate.
3) Multiple MWD: Near instant 0 - out of webify/warp scramble range at jump in by activating 2-3 MWDs. Solution: Microwarp Drive Nerf
That's how we got where we are now. The testing process revealing how 3 existing problems would become magnified by a planned solution. Gate to Gate travel and jump in invulnerability being planned in advanced to solve jip camping.
And before some wag shows up saying "I don't care about PvP!", here's a reminder of who does care about being able to catch or stop people in transit:
Stain Alliance Curse Alliance Curse Coalition Fountain Alliance New Venal Alliance Great Wildlands Pact Coalition of Free Stars Forsaken Empire Immensea Federation Outer Ring Alliance Pirate hunting corps Corps currently at war Pirate corporations
Seems to be a lot of players on that side too.
I mean its like you want corporations to oblige each other like its sex or something. Pffft I would rather **** my enemy.- Rohann
Be careful out there. That other guy waiting in the queue for the gate MIGHT be a baby-munching frock-burner, YOU JUST DON'T KNOW!- Lallante |

There will be a team mechanics issue, since both mining and hauling (and camping) in 0.0 will be team activities.
In that respect, I would like to see an in-game (or extra-game) scheduling system, a blackboard of a kind. A good rule is that the majority of a MMORG players moderate their playing to c. 2h/4days per week after a 2-6 months intense period. That means one hauling trip (to one direction) per day. And it also means we should have bus ships for commotion between hauling spots and stations, and a working taxation system for corps to be manageable with smaller effort.
The number of pilots and the number of ships aint equal in a well-managed mining effort. That is why busses would be needed.
PS: Anybody knows a lightweight freeware teamwork organiser of a sort, or a scheduler?
