Why would they do this? How are we supposed to mine effectively or get rid of the nasty mines we picked up to slag but are hogging our cargo and we just want to dump them. If they offered an Anchorable solution container that came close to the simple jettison one then i would be for it.... but i need that capacity... Unless they introduce titans....

Long odds on that he made it up and is just trolling to scare people. The only other possibility is, he never read the FAQ which makes quite clear that we never WERE supposed to be able to mine to a jettison can, so if/when they eliminate the option nobody will be able to complain about it.

I also have heard this may be nerfed as it was being tested on chaos , so no this is not a troll post but a valid concern and yes it has been discussed in the past. I for one am against this idea mining is hard enough.

How it was explained to me was that they didnt want miners to be able to mine to a Jettison can. The can has an enourmous capacity. That is what they are trying to cut out.... Its either that or they they are sick of people *****ing about can thieves and decided to take jettisoned cans away to stop the *****ing. I know its going to make mining a Pain in the ass. It will pretty much destroy mining as we know it. At least to the noobs and the solo miners. 0.0 miners will probally just go on as usually mining to secure containers with indys right there to pick up and leave.

This isnt a scare tactic. They have discussed the removal of jettisoned cans. Because people have "exploited" thier use for mining purposes. They were never intended to be used the way they are being used. So they have talked about taking them away. I dont know if they will. I pray that they dont. It will Crush a whole element of the game.

That's hilarious.

Alternates of Dracul, much?
If you can't provide a link to these "discussions" then stop talking about them like they're reality. The only real comment on this subject from a developer I have ever read went something like this:
Cans were never meant to be used for mining, but since players have come up with that use and come to rely on it so heavily, we will not remove it from the game.
Until I see different from a developer all else is either rumor or purposeful trolling.

So my lvl 4 courier agent gave me a mining mission, didn't look like anything difficult so i took out my bc and went for a little mining. The mission sent me to a deadspace area in the system (high sec), i mined and jetisoned the ore, completely filled one container and half of a second. I then went back grabed my indy and flew out to collect the ore, as soon as i moved in to open container range on the full one it blew up. with my brain on fire i flew to the next one and was able to loot it no prob. I guess they reduced the time jettisoned cargo lasts? No jettison and no ancoring is going to make solo mining in high sec loads of fun...
And on another note F#CK the new mining missions, a lvl 4 mission wanting 48000m3 of polygypsum and paying out less then 300k isk and 700 lp.

Still, not that bad a necro. Just reduce jet can capacity. Maybe 8k or so, and since wrecks have no "size" visible, you have no issues holding stuff there. Salvaging might have issues, but trading wreck for can should do fine., and not cause any issues of overflow.
All that's left...
