Had a small idea today in regards to the current big war shaping up. While paranoia would make it impossible, wouldn't it be fun to have Gulf-war style "Attatched units" in the combatant fleets?
Objective reporter(s) in shuttles, frapsing and each night posting a vid with todays action.

Doubt it'd happen as it would be too hard to prove that someone is "impartial". Hell, even the ISD agents are sometimes said to be slanted towards one side or the other.
I love the idea of it, but getting people who are truly impartial, and not just alts gathering intel is too hard to do.

You need to be put in front of the (forum)flame-thrower for just suggesting that there would ever be such a thing as an objective reporter IRL, not even to mention this less clever idea...

Less clever why?
As for the "objective" part, fair enough

There is a way it could work. Get a bunch of good eve-writers, have them form a small corp, and then have all parties in the war have them set + standing to them. The reporters don't have to be extremely impartial, nobody can be, they just have to be able to tell the story of the event in a factual and exciting way.
As long as one can keep the reporters from doing things like reporting fleet movements to the enemy and such, they can zip around and see everything. Of course they will also probably get popped quite a bit by things such as DDDs and friendly fire, but it's all part of the job.

Could but unfortunately won't. The new Eve TV series might cover it a bit though from what i'm told.

Nice idea in theory, but in practice not so cool. I doubt anyone in this game is 100% impartial, not the players, ISD, or devs. I once heard Samuel L. Jackson plays EVE, if that's the case, I'd trust him...well, not really, but having his voice giving comments to some fights would rock _______________________________________________

Right because the reporters were so objective. I would totaly trust a corp of alts with the location and make up of my fleet right now, given the parties that have recently admitted to blatantly cheating over a long length of time and repeatedly covering it up.
Plus I can just see someone pulling a Geraldo and giving away a fleet location and a whole new scandal starting.

How exactly do the words "ISS" and "neutral" end up in the same sentence?

Given that there really are a few neutral writers, the main thing is (speaking from reporting for Eve Tribune) is that a person can only be in one place at one time. Covering a single battle is really nothing, as compared to larger scale pictures. ~~~ Action! Suspense! Jita!

Mostly because half of ISD are indeed in one alliance or another so tbh you wouldn't really expect them to be neutral in any way shape or form given that no?

You guys seem to be mistaken. He clearly said he wanted it like in gulf war $NUMBER. So that actually means every ally has its "objective" attached units. But they are not attached to the frontlines. Instead a squad of pilots will be founded who have proven themselves losers, idiots, smacktalkers, fools or just called their ceo names... whatever. And this bunch of frustrated guys is sent to some safe place to fire some bullets down the field without any enemies. The attached units make up glorious stories of heroism and pride giving some random footage they captured there. Isn't that how the attached units worked in gulf war $NUMBER ?!

First of all, shuttles would be killed; you'd need covert ops, or at least ships with prototype cloaks.
Second, I think many of the battle reports here in COAD are impartial enough that we probably don't need an attached unit; especially as the attached unit would know little about what's going on in the leadership of the fleet.
The best thing we can do is flame those who post horribly biased battle reports (regardless of what side they are on) until all of them are unbiased enough to be acceptable
