So to start off the freighter pilot wasn't in FLA, so FLA obviously denied any freighter kills. It is still not clear whether or not that freighter died. According to QuickFit, it would take about 25 minutes to kill an Obelisk with only five Vespa I's. I attacked a friend's freighter in a T1 cruiser with five Hammerhead I's and named guns (not T2) and I was amazed to see that I could have destroyed that thing in less than 10 minutes. My guns were placing some amazing shots, think it is some kind of special property of freighters that your damage output against them is maximized. They are really more fragile than most people think of them. So it is possible that QuickFit doesn't take that into account and that freighter was still killed. Interesting to note that the OP says this pilot didn't have any support arranged for many jumps. I guess the northerners have been feeling so cozy with all the NAPs laid in that they now travel in freighters unescorted through 0.0. Must be a great place to yarr nowadays

Hammerheads do more overall damage to both armour and shields than Vespas do (Thermal>>EM), and since Obelisks have a base of 22500 armour and a base resistance of 60% EM to armour, it would've held up for a long long time. *** Special thanks to Zurtur to making this signature for me

So theoretically yes, he could have killed that freighter. Realistically, the freighter would have survived for over 20 minutes, which would have been plenty of time for help to arrive.

Which has happened to me, three times, twice solo, and once with a mate. So I'm a sad panda, since I don't have a solo frieghter kill yet.

rockerguy Privateers Privateer Alliance	Posted - 2007.02.14 13:49:00 - [78] well this has been fun ... to clear the matter up No it wasnt killed nvr said i did .. apart from the joke of being semi afk with one drone .. but no i found a lone freighter on its own in 0.0 i engaged it .. i was there for at lest 10-15mins with its locked down and my tiny T1 drones popping at it when finally an FLA fleet came to its rescue .. and the guy was an FLA alt that is why i stated it was an FLA error .. anyhow the whole point of the post is A) privs hunt in 0.0 and not just JITA B) WHY the hell was there a freighter on its own in 0.0 .. call me what u like i think its funny ..

I agree entirely :) Also train tech 2 drones ffs man! And why would you put all 4 Nos on the target? Its not like its going to AB/MWD/Shoot/Warp. The time it would take you to kill the thing would mean that its cap would be fully drained at about 20% of the kill time? Meaning you would only be getting a low amount of cap back for the rest of the 80%. Now if you used only 2 of them you would have enough cap back to keep your mods running and would also prolong the amount of time that his cap runs out, therefore making your modules more combat effective. You just managed to make a thread that shows how much you suck. Enjoy
