Could you make a bar that shows mining cycles (i.e. theres a bar saying how long before ___ comes online in a POS, same idea with a mining cycle) and could there be a feature where EVE is joystick compatible?

I like the idea of a progress bar for the mining cycle. I don't always remeber to look at the timer on keyboard (G15 )
However, I dislike the idea of having a joystick operated space-vessel. The ships are computer-controlled, and shouldn't be able to be flying 'free-handed' You type in a destination on the ship's computer and press enter' the ship controls the rest. A pilot shouldn't be able to control a ship that goes 5km/s, especially not since collisions don't have any effects aside from 'bumping'.

Create implants, put them in your head, plug them to USB, now you have the right reaction time to pilot a 5km/s ship!
it's sometimes hard to go where you want on manual control, I agree... -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast ! Flying Vexor and Ishkur, Myrmidon was too slow, got ganked by 3 BC and a Megathron...

The best suggestion for this to date seems to a sweeping progress indicator on all the activated modules, not just the miners. So for example when the module activates it turns grey in color and then as the activation time passes the grey is swept off, half grey, half done etc.

I don't really bother about an indicator on Autocannons or afterburner, but every module that has a cycle time of 30-60 seconds or longer really should have some sort of time indicator.
The best suggestion so far was a circle like bar. Either that or show the remaining time in the tooltip.
The reason why we cannot fyl our ships manually is simple: LAAAAAG!!!
Now, the only information you send to the server is "fly to xyz" once a few minutes, the rest can be computed client side (so once the server tells you your target startet orbiting you, it only requires server-client communication when he changes his movement, as all the other things can be computed locally).
Now imagine everybody around you would have to be notified evertime you move your joystick.... Believe me, you dont want that for 30,000 people...

Timers would be nice, I agree. I'd also like to be able to tell which strip miner is on which rock, and for the survey scanner to show ore left the same way enemy HP shows, under the locked target icon.

You got it right on the money. Direct-control EvE would be unplayably laggy.

A timer would be very nice, and so would a joystick or some other sort of way of directing your ship. /signed on both :)

I think perhaps a green bar that rotated around the outside of an icon, going from the bottom all the way around, or from half way up the left side to half way up the right side would be good*. Alternately, a kind of shading effect might be good too, like a clock - those of you who've played Command & Conquer will know what I mean by this - that starts greyed out and then moves around as the cycle progresses.
Whilst I do think manual input for EVE would be good, it would, as people say, be rather laggy.
*Like so;
(Yeah, I know it sucks, I made in paint. >_> ~~ I'm in ur belts minin' ur roids. |
