I was hoping we could spice up the tournaments more. I am thinking a more interesting format using non-Alliance folks.
Though I know the ideas might not all work in reality, here is my "Blue Sky Tourney":
Attendees:
1) Merc Corps
2) Pirate Corps
3) Privateer Corps
4) Bounty Hunter and Vigilante (Anti-Pirate) Corps
5) Griefer Corps
(all attendees must declare which they are - some prizes to be awarded to each group based on style...)
Events:
-*1) Pod Squishing - 10 targets logoff - corps compete for the most pods squished in time allowed (tie breaker on time)
-*2) Pod/Shuttle Sniping - 10 targets warp in, travel to another gate (say 300 km), and warp out
(most targets sniped and distance of sniper (tie breaker) from both gates used to determine winner)
-3) PvP Combat - just as in the Caldari Tournaments - teams match up and fight
-4) Gankfest - all PvP teams fight in the arena at once - last team standing wins
-5) Mining - all teams are required to mine a specific amount of veldspar at once - first to reach amount wins
*6) Dred (capital ship) Takedown - timed takedown of tanking dred
*7) POS Takedown - timed takedown of POS
Notes:
* Events which are done by solo teams
- Event participants limited by tonnage of ships - for instance the weight of 2 battleships
All events have no restrictions on modules used.
Events where more than one team compete at once will allow team interaction (interference)
The main thing to note is that lots of interference could happen between teams... that COULD be fun to watch or just horrible logic on my part.

i like the idea of the "gankfest" where its last team standing, tho with say 40 teams with say 5 pilots per side, thats 200 pilots, and trying to stream footage with that much going on on the screen is gonna be tough, unless it was group based, say 40 teams divided into X amount of teams, and there are group 'gankfests', that could work. the other ideas , "pod squishing" and "mining" sound alil boring, no way do i want to watch people mine i dont know about anyone else, (if i want to see people mine i go to empire :P) also the dread/pos ones would take to long and watching people shoot a POS for 10mins isnt that entertaining in my personal opinion.

I see the point about the length of some events and the wanting to even compete in some of them.
Some people take pride in their pod squishing. Such tactics of finding ships and then killing them have really hampered Titan ownership in the last year.
The mining would probably be more entertaining from the interference between the miners. Perhaps NOBODY would even mount a miner and just kill the others - hard to say.
As far as the longer events - it is a good test of a corp's ability to do such a thing. I agree - they could take a LONG time. Definitely one of the "and now back to the newbie pirates desperately attacking the POS... okay - they are still at it - moving back to the next event..."
Anyhow, the main thrust is for people to take pride in their playstyle and show who really is the biggest and baddest on the market. I really think running any commercials of the contestants would be good too. Or maybe just running the commercials of the victors...
Veto - see - we told you - we mean business - for example. This is what Veto is all about. (just using veto as an example as perhaps MC would be better - but do you KNOW which is better by the ton?)

I think the gankfest idea would be great to watch.
The only problem I can forsee is that of camera control.
Only cause there might be so much going on and some great
explosions may not be able to get it all on live tv.
But when in doubt post production and a great dvd :-)
