I'm just confused just what Theoretical Perspective is, is it just a theory of how someone is thinking? Pretty much like putting youself in their shoes?
I don't know if its the right term for what I'm thinking it is... I'm thinking its pretty much putting yourself trying to see it from their point of view ( perspective ) and trying to view it without moral objectivity... Im THINKING that is what it is, but I cant find a clear english definition...

"Theoretical Perspectives: Sociology includes three major theoretical perspectives. Functionalism focuses on the contributions of each part of society; the conflict perspective looks at conflict, competition, change, and constraint within a society; and symbolic interactionism considers the actual interaction among people. Each of these perspectives provides a different slant on human social behavior, so by considering all three perspectives together we can see most of the important dimensions of human social behavior. "

I just typed "theoretical perspectives in sociology" into Google and hit enter. I got an A for Sociology at A level, but that was 4 years ago and i've had little use for it since so any answers Google can give you will undoubtedly be better than anything I can dredge up from memory.
As far as I remember though theoretical perspectives is just an all encompassing term for describing all the different schools of thought in sociological studies. Every perspective has a different theory on how and why society works the way it does. For example Marxists and Feminists can view the same piece of social data and draw two completely different conclusions from it. Sociology is not a science and all the various schools of thought have demonstrated their strengths and weaknesses as theoretical tools for examining data. So in order to try and draw an accurate image of an data you need to consider its implications from the point of view of every perspective to fully grasp the impact and relevance of the data you're examining.
