Sorry for the forum spam, but today seems to be my day to ask questions. (That's what you all get for being so helpful!  )
So, my latest question is: are agents corporations race-specific? I'm Gallente, but I initially started out working for Republic Security Services in Minmater space so I could help out my buddy. Once he got going ok, I moved to Caldari space because Jita seems to be the best place to buy/sell goods. I needed a new agent since I couldn't find any RSS agents there, so I starting doing missions for Spacelane Patrol and have had good luck getting agents there. However, their agents are starting to offer me ships, but they're all Caldari. If I keep going with these guys, are Caldari ships the only ships I'll be able to get (thinking about the eventual faction ships here)? As someone who wants to fly Gallente (i.e., drone) ships, would I be better served just sucking it up and heading for Gallente space and working agents over there? I'm not keen on working up from level 1 again, but it's early enough in the process that if that's what I need to do for the long-term benefit, I'm game.

yeah you'll only get ships of the faction your agent belongs to (as long as the agent belongs to one of the four major factions)

I'm just a young girl doing her best to survive in the harsh bleakness of space! In fact, I just figured out the other day how to color the stars to make the map show me the sovereignty (was looking for some tasty Quafe!).
But now that I know, it's back to the Federation for me to try and repent for my past misdeeds. I've only incurred a little wrath so far (-0.17) and my connections skill should help me recover fairly quickly. (Maybe I'll take Eleana's advice and see if the Federation Navy has some work for a lost sheep like me...)
Edit: said "districts" when I mean "sovereignty" - corrected.

If you have a negative standing you'll need diplomacy instead of connections. 
As soon as your (base) standing becomes positve again, connections takes over.

Have been glad it is you asking the questions as it has saved me the typing, thanks.
Open your character sheet and go to standings, select Gallente now go to member corps and look for Quafe. They are everywhere. Find an agent to use and there ya have it.

you could always carry on get a caldari ship then sell/traid it to get the gal one you want.
May save you a bit of time, also I think (not sure) that caldari faction ships sell for more.

Well, I've been guilted into returning "home" in other threads as well, so I'm on my way back to Sinq Laison as I type this. 
Not the most efficient path perhaps, but it's very nostalgic (if a 3-week absence can cause nostalgia) to pass through Everyshore again and see Lirsautton roll by...

Agent reporting safely back in civilized space. Note that I was able to collect extra loot by accepting all the offers from the Caldari agents and promising them my undying loyalty!
And yes, they are as boring and stilted as ever -- they're more worried about disgruntled employees than empire building. Excuse me, what's that? *You* have a disgruntled employee as well? *sigh*
