I've just made wine-1.9.7-72-g699d225-ccp-daily-17 available under Wine Dev versions - this has a fix for the issue with the window growing on every startup.
I'll make this the default version after more testing - feedback is appreciated, confirming (or not) if this version works for you.

Just tested this version on one of my older MacPro computers, it worked very well, no problems.
Specs on test mac: MacPro 2007, dual 4-core Xeon 3ghz, 16GB ECC Ram, 2xSSHD, 1xHD, ATI Radeon 5870 Running OS X El Capitan 10.11.4
Edit: Also tested it on the MacPro in my signature, runs very well, no problems that I can see.
MacPro (mid 2012) dual 6-core Xeon 3.06ghz, 64GB ECC Ram, SSD, 2x SSHD, 2x HD, EVGA GTX 680 Mac Edition. Running OS X El Capitan and Windows 10 Pro.

Tested it. It worked fine. The window seemed the right size too.
Two bugs I found in the earlier versions are still there: The numbers on the scale of the market data plot are missing. Jumps through stargates have a messed up jump tunnel, it seems to terminate the animation well before you get to the new system.

The new version seems stable thus far. The only things I noticed is that the frame rate drops below 100 fps when you put EVE into the background, it started in fullscreen (as opposed to windowed) and I had to reassign some of my drones to groups. Beyond that, it seems to be outperforming Cider in terms of overall fps. It still has the graphical anomalies present under high shader settings and of course we're still not getting all of the juicy new ship effects.

If you are referring to DX11 specific effects, then yes, sorry, that's beyond my scope. Once Wine fully supports DX11 we'll see...

Where do I access ship reimbursement requests? (this seems to have been moved, changed or otherwise removed)

Did you happen to have LogLite running? Logs from that session could provide some clues.

It once again feels like Mac users are the proverbial guinea pigs in this endeavour. After having gone through at least 6+ months of previous serious instability and crashes, I suspect I'm not alone in being reluctant to go down this path again. Especially since it cost me a ship for the first time in recent memory...

I'm sorry you feel this way and appreciate your frustration, but I hope you won't give up on this just yet. All reports so far indicate that Wine is more stable (and performant) than Cider, but it still isn't a magic solution that never crashes. EVE does crash on Windows, too, unfortunately, so it's not just the wrapper for the Mac.
LogLite is installed with the launcher - you can enable 'Run clients with logging' in the launcher settings and it will start up automatically whenever you start a client.
You can also start it up manually from the View menu on the menu bar for the launcher.

If you guys are willing to provide a free supply of ships and fittings so that when WINE crashes it doesn't cost us reams of ISK in lost ships, I'm all game to continue testing. Beyond that, I'm out two PLEX for replacing that Golem - and based on previous reimbursement requests, I'm not at all optimistic that I'll see any reimbursement this time either ("the logs reveal nothing")...

All I can do is continue to try to improve the stability of the game - I hope that effort is appreciated.

Flying from Osmon to Arnon after the update I encountered some very strange behavior: my blockade runner would take ~160 seconds to jump gates, then right as the overview updated in the new system (which it did sometimes 10 seconds after landing) the ship would warp 1,000km. without showing a decloaking animation and remain uncloaked--but the gate cloak timer would still be active and I would be a normal distance from the gate. It was like a tiny emergency warp.
In fact, the gate cloak timer was truly mysterious. it remained stuck at 100% for most of the trip, even when I was in warp, except for one gate where it started counting down while I was still in the gate warp tunnel. It was at about 30% when I arrived at that gate. Then it went back to 100%.
I had LogLite running. I will file a bug when I can.
Has anyone else seen this, or is it just me?
I have a 27" iMac. The operating system is up to date. |

Since the wine support launched I have consistently had issues with certain Windows disappearing from view, yet remaining interact able. It typically happens with the new maps, but I have seen it happen on pretty much anything at least once. Is there a cause of this? |

I have a 27" iMac. The operating system is up to date. That sounds like a connection problem. Your ship shouldn't warp off because the client bugs out (unless it's a disconnect). I think the beta launcher has a connection diagnostic as well, you may want to include those as well. |

also i am still unable to return to the cider version I ran into the same issue yesterday, but purging Wine completely and redownloading it through the launcher seems to have completely solved these random anomalies.

As someone computer-dumb, can you walk me through how you did this (the purge of Wine that is)??
I've had a similar problem since I've tried to use the Wine wrapper. I've been having a similar issue, but haven't heard anything after my bug report. |

How to Purge Wine 1. After starting the EVE Launcher (but before starting EVE), click on the "Settings" icon in the lower left corner. 2. Under the "General" tab (should be default), click on the "Shared Cache Settings" button. 3. The second line should read "Shared cache folder is at /Users/****" with a "Reveal in Finder" button immediately after. Click on that. 4. This will open your 'SharedCache' folder. At the bottom you will see two folders: "wine" and "wineenv". Drag both into the trash and empty it.
This should force a new download for Wine, but if it does not - quit and restart the EVE Launcher. Give it a few seconds and it should re-acquire the approximate 2511 files for downloading. Hope this helps!

Thank you!!! This worked for me as well. I will update my bug report/post in the other thread and hopefully this resolves the issue for others as well.

If you have an older mac and have problems with Wine version of eve, recommend you try the wine-1.8.1-test. It seems to be the only version that works for me. |

CCP Snorlax wrote:Keyboard handling is next on my list. If you could please add retaining individual window resolutions after that you'd make my OCD very happy. Even in 4k (3200x1800) it's not quite enough to run 3 Windows @ 1920x1080, so I often run one primary in 1920x1080 and the other two @ 1400x810 so that there's minimal overlap. Unfortunately, whenever I quit the clients it defaults (on startup) to the resolution of the last one that exits. So I end up having to ESC to the general menu every time on login to check and change the display settings of each. Thanks.
