The ECM ones. Are they jamming, or what are they doing ?
And are they good at it ?

Yes they jam.
Depends on your skills. I have about 300K SP in drones, so my Drake has 5 x light ECM drones in it, as although I haven't used them often (I keep forgetting they are there) they do seem to be quite effective. My mate's Deimos was jammed 50-70% of the time apparently. If you can afford to lose the dps that would otherwise be provided by those drones, go for it. ------ ------

And if lights work that well.. Is it possible to only use 1 ecm heavy drone on each target, or how does it work ?
Each one works like it's own little ECM module, e.g: a Vespa EC-600 has a jam strength of 1.5 (not a lot) but launching 5 Vespa EC-600s at a target will result in it being hit by 5 x jamming chances with a strength of 1.5 each.
So if we were fighting an Ishkur (sensor strength 12) then each time a Vespa EC-600 attacked it, there would be a 1.5/12 (1/6) chance of it being jammed for 20 seconds. It is chance based, but I find it is very useful for relieving pressure in PvP with a 20 second stretch where they can't shoot you and your shields/armor/cap can recharge a little.
Thing is, a Hornet EC-300 is 5m3 in size, with jam strength 1, but a Wasp EC-900 only has a jam strength of 2, so you're getting twice the jam strength for 5 times the drone bay loss. So i'd use this for best size/usefulness economy:
5 x Hornet EC-300 4 x Berserker ------ ------

There is no 20 sec jam time like on a proper ecm module, they merely break your lock. That said, I personally find them extremely effective, particularly when combined with damps.

ecm drones like all ecm are chanced based obviously which i why i personally rarely use them. they are however very effective especially on gank setup ships such a the neutron thron they work real nice because ur tank is kinda weak and the targets usually don't last much longer than 20 seconds so if u get first jam you pretty much win 1v1.
the downside to them is. imagine u get tackled in ur mega by a rook, falcon etc even a blackbird and they get u perma jammed while support is coming in. u launch 5 ogre II's first and they will eat away at that ecm ship and it will die or have to warp off very shortly after. giving u the chance to take out the dmg dealers or simply leave before they get there. with ecm drones the chances of them jamming an ecm ship is very small so ur simply screwed.
that's why i personally like using normal drones. basically 5 ogre II's even without bonus's can do quite a bit of dmg if u get jammed.

WRONG.
You merely don't get the indicator. But you stay jammed for 20 seconds.
Also the chance for 5 heavy ecm drones to jam a tempest for example is: (1-(1-2/19)^5)*100% ~ 42.67%

yeah ur wrong there mate. u do get a 20 second jam there just aint a timer. it used to jam u for a short time and not 20 seconds but they changed it recently so they work like ecm modules just with no timer.

I dunno out that, if it's 42.67% for 5 heavy drones, the half that for light drones is still significant in combat, plus if you use lights, you can still carry 4 heavys, a significant punch in itself. ------ ------
