I've just downloaded the 14-day trial and during character creation, I was wondering which path is easiest for new players? I want to be able to acquire a good amount of profit and upgrade my ship while surviving the conflicts that are a part of the game. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Non of them are "easiest" I would say, its all about how you like to play, if you like to fly around and play the market, buying low and selling high then go for business. If you like to mine resources and make your own things (you do have to do a little fighting here as well, unless you stay in 1.0 systems (safest) all the time, or have someone to protect you) then go for industry. If however you want to go all out fighting then Military is the way to go. However, the unique system of this game means no matter what path you choose you can do ALL of the mentioned things pluss alot more no matter what path you choose, its just a matter of how much training you'll need before you can do them.
Oh, and welcome to EVE.

Start with a fighter till you get some starting cash.. then either use it to finance a mining setup or stick with combat focused things to do.
all depends on what you find fun

The easiest and funnest thing to do is blow stuff up - that's probably the main reason why people come to play this game. In this case, Military is the path for you.
Industry requires a bit of funding to start up, since you need materials to start building stuff in the first place. Business is more for trading and mining - while not quite as thrilling as blowing stuff up, they can be just as profitable. But I don't have any experience with the other two paths, so take this with a grain of salt

Cool, thanks for the replies. Think I will go with Military then. Now I just have to figure out which skills to get. Put my first skill point during the tutorial in Learning. Figure the faster I raise that, the faster I can learn new skills. Thanks again :)

Military is easiest. You can do it right away.

I agree. Industry and Trade are very, very dependent on ones liquid assets (ISK). You can't make items without money, and you can't trade items without money. Money is easiest to get when you shoot at stuff/npc's.

Also, the thing to remember is that the 800k skill points you get at character creation affect what you'll be able to do for only a month or so; regular players have a lot more than the few skills a newbie gets, and millions of skill points, within a couple months.
So, character creation really only affects how you'll start making money, not what your final career choices will be. And, yeah, in my opinion, too, it's easier to start as military, because of the ability to jump into slightly better ships right away. Due to that, you can become a miner or a hauler (average performance) very fast, and you won't be stuck to just combat missions.

My roomate has been playing for just over a month and recently started flying a revriever (middle level mining barge). I have been doing mostly fighting, but spent a while trying to decide if I liked mining. Now that he's in his new ship, he can bring in more than double the ISK than I can per hour (I've only been playing about 2 months). Take that how you will. I still enjoy fighting better, but now I have been running protection for him, which is great. I can run around the different asteroid belts ratting, and jump back to him when something shows up in his belt.
