Slight problem, the corp started renting space from BoB. I wanted to get a ship (specially fitted vexor, not expensive stuff, but stuff not normally used and not sold in 0.0) and a clone with basic implants down to k-9. (Salvaging makes both replaceable.) I was doing fine for about 22 jumps into 0.0, then logged for the night. That morning, about 45 mins after maint, I woke up, logged in, and started to continue. Having had my friend sit over my shoulder during my first few weeks, I knew to watch local. Key word: KNEW. Not DID. I got distracted reading corp chat, next thing I know, I warp right into a bubble camp of goon cruisers. Oh my... I gate through, but on the other side I was almost warp jammed by some goon folks who responded quickly. I lost about 8% shields. Bout 3 jumps later, I gate into a system, see it is camped (non bubble). I click warp, but am bumped and warp scrambled in the middle of about 12-14 ships. (Insert various oaths and comments about the systems ancestry.) Suddenly more goons warp in, at this point, I am down to 15% structure. So I hit warp, assuming my pod might have a chance. Then the funny thing happens. My... ship... warps... After making 3 safe spots and spamming warping between them, wondering to myself "wtf"? I begin telling local that I somehow lived. Eventually, it turns out that camp was LV, who were supposed to be allied. However, due to a standings mix-up, I was not showing as bluw to them. The SOLE reason I made it out was the goon camp followed me to the system ( I do not know why, I am not worth the ammo). This made the LV camp warp out, including the jammers. So, I must give my thanks to goon for saving me from my allies. :P This was thursday around the M-x or something or other system. Sorry for long winded post, but I wanted to relate my story of just how much of a lucky bastard I am. Beginer's luck owns you all.
Oh yah, *EDIT* I warped to the safe spot with 5% structure. At that point all that was holding the ship together was spit and prayers. Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs. |
