Yes, I wait a modification for the amarr too since 3 years only ...
You say, YES we going to make something for amarr but I wait ... I have see in 3 years a nerfl of the damage lence, a nerfl on the mega pulse a little boost for Tachyon of 2-3% dmg (yes after 3 years with 1% more damage between mega beam/tachyon, make something is good) Now I wait for all other turret !!!
For my, you have 2 choice : first : change the damage of the lence second : change the resist of all ship (player & NPC) for balance the damage and give more efficiency to EM/Thermal

what about: no?
there is no fictional possibility to a laser (electormagnetic wave) to do explosive damage!
problem with amar ships is, that they only got 1 real bonus in most cases (-cap need is no real bonus).
I'd wait for the omni-tank nerf, as described in blog.
as for the thermal crystall, I like the idea. Make it a short range, massive damage crystall. maybe something along -75% range and real massive damage. Something like industrial lasers, which burn trough steel like butter :D

First my oppinion to the OP suggestion: No.
If we (Amarr) should have explosive and kinetic damage on our lenses, then blasters should also have em and explosive ammo, otherwise its not balanced. This "balance" will only remove diversity between the different races in the game, and make it dull. You would just have 4 boxes, with slightly different wrappings.. so why chose? Why even have 4 different races, if they are all alike? Should reduce the game to 1 race, 1 frig, 1 crusier, 1 BS, 1 destroyer, 1 cap ship, 1 weapons type and 1 fitting. Then these whines would be gone and be happy, right?

the explosive suggestion comes from my experience when missioning against angels in L4 missions, i would like to fly amarr ships sometimes there too but whatever i try the dps is not enough to make it worthwhile - compared to a tempest or maelstrom which can shoot them all down at long ranges without the need of sacrificing tank slots for damage mods.

Explain how a laser can do explosive damage without technobabble.
My favourite variant of laser has always been, and almost certainly always will be, the laser as used in Earth 2150. These sneaky little fellas never did any direct damage (except to shields) but instead did a lot of heat damage to a unit. What happens? Eventually, that unit lights up like a floodlight and explodes!
Might be worth considering - having lasers deal lots of "heat" damage to their targets, if that's ever implemented, like it's supposedly going to be. But I can't see lasers being capable of doing actual damage outside of em/therm without them not being lasers, if that makes sense.
Now, make 'em into particle beams and you're getting somewhere. Kinetic damage, anyone?
But I do agree that currently, blasters/rails/lasers are very limited and easily tanked against, as they only do EM/Therm or Kin/Therm. Some explosive or EM dealing ammo for hybrids probably wouldn't be impossible, but lasers are still restricted by pseudoscience. ~~ I'm in ur belts minin' ur roids. |

I'm fairly sure you could fudge a laser to cause minor Kinetic damage (Repeatedly pulsing the laser to randomly cause expansion and contraction in a material to make it technically destroy itself).
But no, balance issues says no.

actually, there IS a possibility, to deal damage like an explosion, we just did that a few days ago in our experimental science lab, with a kind of flicker effect. We used a little morror that rapidly moved from one side to the other and thereby produced two laser beams that went on-off-on-off in a very rapid movement. The damage that laser made was far bigger than the usual thermal damage, as it made the targeted matter itself expand and compress fast enough to have something like an explosion effect. Only negative effect: it damaged the focusing lenses... Glas is affected the same way as all other matter... --- The future begins now - in EVE we live it, in real life we create it!

Agree to what Jaketh Ivanes wrote.
Problem with Amarr isn't damage or damage type, it's cap. Or what would be the main reason for people putting projectile turrets on their Amarr ships, which neither have a dmg bonus? Regarding damage type: many people don't tank EM armor or they tank more therm/kin. Also look at ships like Ishtar and Cerberus and their resists.
