It would be cool if I could assign, or sell, Kill Rights that I have on other people.
I might not choose to exercise the right, but I should have the option to assign it to someone if I choose to!

I bet there could be a whole market for kill rights. Bounty hunters and mercs would be all over this.

Yup, since it lets 'em pick and choose their targets. Find out where they are, buy kill rights... then gank them right in front of a CONCORD patrol.
Which, IMO, is how bounty hunting should work. You got a bounty on your head?

Well, in combination with fixed and improved bounty payout, depending on fraction of destroyed value, this would make a very nice system.

Sooo many times I've seen multi million isk pods flying through highsec without a care in the world... Why should you be concorded for collecting that debt if they are a menice to society? I think this is a great idea! -X |

Edited by: NIkis on 17/02/2007 03:43:40 This would mean true bounty hunting (without target's knowledge of course), unlike the current kill rights system where targets always know who got kill rights on them (correct me if i'm wrong, not 100% sure of it since i've not been a kill rights target in many months). The targets will be warned tho, by the disappearance of the original kill rights owner before the term (1 month ?).

Yes, and the target does not get to know who the kill rights are sold to. The original victim can be left on the targets kill message. The bounty hunter should be able to hit without forewarning.

I disagree with this, simply because it would be unfair from 1:1 kill rights to go to a 2:1 kill rights. The kill rights should be transfered to the bounty hunter.

Yes, I agree with Nikis, I didn't mean that both victim and bounty hunter would have kill rights, only the bounty hunter would have the rights, the pirate would just not get a message updated with the transfer information on it.

True.
Perhaps make it so you can only bounty people you have kill rights for?
Of course, the bounty sticks as long as killrights are maintained on that person, either through their own actions, or through trading. ~~ I'm in ur belts minin' ur roids. |

Or make it so the bounty has to be a certain size to allow them to be killed in higher sec.
(Ie, higher bounties for higher-sec killings)

Having a bounty connected with kill rights sounds like a good idea.
If you get killed by X then you can connect a bounty with those kill right and it gets put on the open market. You then loose the Kill rights. A bounty hunter H can get an option on the bounty by paying a (non refundable) fee which would be 5% of the bounty. They would then get 24 hours to kill X without CONCORD interfering.
If they successfully kill and pod X within the 24 hours then they get the bounty reward.
I also like the idea of being able to tractor the pod of X and capture the pod, you would deliver the pod to a CONCORD station to get the bounty reward. That way you donĘt need to pod X (and get a sec hit). X can decide to wait it out, or suicide themselves.

I don't see how it can lead to any more griefing than what originally assigned the Kill Rights!

I actually have killrights over 2 characters, I would love to sell them to a bounty hunter...
But it could be the other way, bounty hunting also means that people who have killrights will give them to a bounty hunter and pay the bounty hunter when the tast is completed (well, adding a bounty is the simple way, this should not need more, but we need to put bounties on people with high security status that we have killrights on). -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast ! Flying Vexor and Ishkur, Myrmidon was too slow, got ganked by 3 BC and a Megathron...

I would say this is perfect but only 24hrs for a bounty sounds a little short, or is that the normal length of kill rights?

I think that is a better idea than selling kill rights.
Selling would encourage scammers to try to trick people into giving out kill rights. I can imagine scammers saying --You can go ahead and loot those wrecks... I don't want 'em--
Some other good ideas I have heard on this subject:
> Bounty hunters should purchase a monthly license to operate in each region they want to work in. And they should be identified as bounty hunters with a tag similar to the skull that marks wanted players.
> Bounty hunters could buy a contract, similar to a gate key, that they must have in their inventory when attacking the wanted player.
> Concord should arrive at the conflict and not interfere, but grab the pod as soon as the ship is destroyed.
> Criminals should lose more than just money for their crimes ... as a form of surgical rehabilitation concord should remove some of their skill points from gunnery or spaceship command, proportional to their crimes and security status.
> Bounty hunters should hold high security status and not be part-time pirates. The security status of the wanted player minus the security status of the bounty hunter must be below kill-on-site levels or the bounty hunter cannot get the contract.

I thought there IS a whole market for this. Pay mercs to war dec whoever you want to be killed and for ISK they do it multiple times, kill rights or no...
