when i saw this one i didn't immediately notice the sheer weirdness of it....

The navy has is upgrading some of its obsolete ships and we as contractors are supplying it with Soil.
/em boggles...
What are they upgrading the ships too? Window boxes...?

That is wierd. I've always enjoyed the invasion missions though. Hauling around marines.

That is one of the old missions. Fixed in the new system.

Good harmless fun and a last farwell to the old (*cough* crappy *cough*) mission system 
Then again.. if it were a jove mission... soil might make sense....
Made me chuckle anyway.

Most of the old missions have been ported over to the new system, as well as a ton of new missions having been implemented, so there is bound to still be some errors in them, they should all be reported in the patch review forum.
We are also currently working on some drastic changes to the system which I hope will make it in before the Shiva patch next year. This Castor patch was just the beginning, expect more significant UI changes (and how the system works in general) later.

Well, you could look at it as replacement soil for their Hydroponics bay where they grow their food...
Still, that does make one wonder.

... 'Tis like those toilet seats for 6.500 ISK a piece... you don't question Navy logic, period. Or they make sure you don't get another opportunity to question it. ;s
