I had someone want me to private auction a set of ravens to him with the buyout for the full value and the first bid set low "for tax and fee reasons". Obvious scam. When i told him that I would do a private item exchange, since it is a flat fee, not dependent on the amount, he called me a scammer and closed the chat window... (I use private item exchanges all the time with my research business, and it is always a flat 10k isk... no matter how long I set it for, no matter what the exchanged items or isk is worth) Not finding research slots in Empire Space? Could you please explain how that's a scam? As long as you don't put the first bid low "for tax reasons" then either you get your money's worth or you get the items back. Are you guys saying that it's a scam just because he might sucker you out of the contract cost? It seems so minimal and he doesn't gain from it so i don't understand where the incentive is there...

Dimagus School of Applied Knowledge	Posted - 2007.02.17 01:50:00 - [9] The scam works on two principles: 1) They get you to put up a new contract with a lesser minimum bid price, 2) If you put up a contract to a private person/corporation, ONLY those people can bid on it, not even the seller can bid/buyout his own contract. - Never ever set a contract for a price lower than what you want for it. - Try to avoid private contracts in every situation where you don't know/can't trust the buyer.

Like the above guys said, always use item exchange. Any buyer that encourages you to set a low minimum bid "for tax reasons" is full of **** - HE doesn't have to pay the tax. ;)
