Is it possible to put it on the effects category so when u disable effects you can disable this flash effect too? Its very annoying and it hurts the eyes :( Please CCP i dont think its very hard to implement this and i dont think anyone will disagree. The ones that like it enable it the ones that dont like it disable it. Yea it is very pretty indeed but after a few times it becomes annoying just like that flash effect when you jumped a system. Please CCP?

You dont get it, do you. This flash can cause epilepsy to some people, its not something to be taken lightly, its not funny and it has nothing to do with wars and pods! Health is above the game.

TBH if you have epilepsy, playing a video game isnt the best idea in the first place --- http://static.griefwatch.net/gallery/18028383f236b20e4c0f6d7492e58408.gif

QFT... there are flashes all over the place in EVE.

Edited by: Lirt on 18/02/2007 12:26:18 This kinda of rapidly flashing lights can create photosensitive epilepsy even if you didnt have any indications before. Its not the same as 20 npc ships in missions. Citadel torps are far more frequent and more intense. Well nevermind i was expecting a CCP reply if they gonna do something about it, im not asking anything hard i guess, just a disable option.
Why they disabled the flashing when we changed systems, i guess cause it was annoying, well citadel torp flash is the same. I just want to play the game i like without closing my eyes every 5 sec.
I hope CCP cares about customer health and will do something even if they cant reply to my thread.

Such flashes have also been shown to cause irritating forum whining with no rational foundation from school girls who confuse medical conditions with their personal comfort and convenience.
And by the way, I rule you.

"this is war son! if you cant take a little flashing in the eyes how you ever going to pop a pod!"
this made me laugh madly 'HAHA!' for some unknown reason.
but the OP has a point! for those of us who never, ever go out and live in perpetual darkness those flashes hit our retinas like nuclear bombs. I just imagine an oversized retina, being sloshed about a cooking pan, sizzle sizzle. ewww.

I agree in that you probably shouldn't be playing a game anyway with epilepsy. However i am usually wrong about these things.

Some people are so confused and 'hungry' for insults that they really dont know what they saying. About what whining you talking about, this is general forums to discuss EVE in general and post what people think about it, be it bad or be it good. According to your judgement everything that doesnt say something like "EVE is so great, it rox", etc is whining. Really you have to separate some things and understand what they mean. As i stated before i love EVE but there some things that bother me like this one.
Secondly you didnt read my posts, i said that even if you dont have epilepsy or didnt have any indications before you might grow one by watching repeatedly flashing lights, etc Yes many games have these but citadel torps are one of the worse.

This not only is completely OFF topic, it shows how mature you are. I bet you havent even seen a citadel torp so dont post here please, they are not like normal torps.

epilepsy is brought on by flashing lights that pulse at multiple times per second, i hardly think a torp flash would bring on any sort of fit,
normal gameplay flashes the screen at an alarming rate and would be more harmful to an epileptic than a single torp graphic,
try using a video recorder and record your eve screen, you will see when the frames play through how much flashing and distortion goes on even when the screen looks stable, its just the fact that your eyes dont respond quickly to these changes that you dont notice them.

First when you have 10 torp dreads hitting you get citadel torp flashes every second or at least every 3-4 seconds. Second what you talking about is the refresh rate of the screen, well if the refresh rate is high enough it doesnt cause any trouble, its just being caught by the video, ok im not 100% sure about this but i guess it doesnt. Most todays monitors are very advanced to support high refresh rate and not cause problems. But point here is CCP cant do anything about refresh rate of your screen but they can do something about that flash.
(By the way a nice way to check the refresh rate of your screen is to turn your head away from the screen have your eyes fixed somewhere else except the screen and try to watch the screen with the edge of your eye. If you notice screen flashes or some horizontal lines that go from up to down you need higher refresh rate, or a new screen if your current one cant support it. Just a tip, and a healthy advice.)

Its alright, if you have 10 dreads pounding on you, chances are that you wont have to endure the flashing fo0r very long.

yes i am aware that the flashing is refrech rate, but what im saying about epilepsy is that its that kind of flashing that causes the problems, the flashing that you cant see normally, refresh rate flash is much more harmfull for epileptics than any graphic this game produces, granted, the citadel torp flashes may hurt your eyes if they are intense, but using them as the sole reason that may cause an epileptic fit is unfounded and clucthcing at straws TBH

I'm terribly sorry, but the entire bulk of your post was completely nullified around the point you said I MIGHT GROW AN EPILEPSY
I'm not even going to bother shooting down the rest of your post, that right there did it for me.
Oh, and since you apparently didn't pick u on it when it was not quoted with the rest of my post, that thing at the bottom is my signature . And ive seen many, many citadel torps; even if I hadn't, you're still a moron.
