as a budding pirate, i've got some serious concerns: where in the hell do you guys find ships to kill? honestly...i roam around belts all night and i never seem to catch anybody ....lo sec is just deserted...where can i find targets?
any suggestions will help, except gate camping, gawd i dont want anything to do with that.
thanks!

low sec is deserted because you can make alot more money if you join a corp and hit 0.0. 90% of people that you do find running in low sec are running missions anyways, which is kinda like belt ratting +1 in that you make more money, are almost completely immune to pirates and you gain agent lp and rep while your at it. Thus the lack of people in low sec.

whar he's trying to say is that lowsec is underpopulated because the riskvreward is all screw there, so people avoid it like teh plague.
now for something useful: Caldari space is more populated than others, Messoya being one i've seeen upwards of 15 people in, otherwise just get in good with a 0.0 alliance and tag opposing alliance stuff. http://us.f2.yahoofs.com/users/45d4e030z1b06b782/flibbertigibbet2/__sr_/72c2scd.jpg?pf0GO1FB.4ah3.DN |

Move regions, if you're struggling. There's plenty of traffic in low sec

I get plenty of targets in Derelik/Molden Heath/Metropolis/Devoid. There isn't really any targets bigger than battlecruisers unless you sentry tank. I locate targets by going to the planet where the most belts are and using directional scan to narrow it down to just a few belts.

Welcome to the very limited world of eve pvp.
There are very few areas that non consentual PVP can take place left, half were removed with Kali patch.
If you write off gates as somehwere to kill people at you have not got alot left tbh....

O common, Ive only been playing a month and I have found a 0.3 sec space where I do ratting and there is a lot of traffic in there. People passing, people also ratting/mining and it will be a great place for me to kill the lil terds when I get good enough hehe, right now im just making friends with them :)

Those are not exactly the places where you would want to go solo. Most you see there is "larger" pirate corps hunting eachother. And people on there way to 0.0.

Edited by: Pilok ****fly on 18/02/2007 15:48:33 As a few said before, Molden heath is a good place to hunt.
Try to find systems with many belts and make a safespot near a planet with the most belts. Then use the scanner to find the targets at the belts.

Sit at a moon or belt and wait, most targets will come to you - gank squads are more often, but you will be totally fine in a frigate. The next best thing after kicking ass is to talk about kicking ass. |

Don't have to sit on a gate in 0.4 all day to pirate tbh, I fall asleep when doing that.. Its just so repettive (sp) ctrl lock F1, F2, F3 etc, as I have already said to you tiller and I have no problems with that style of game play. But you can't come here and complain about lack of targets etc, cos that is total bullsh*t, its takes getting off ones arse and flying a few jumps and looking for people to kill. |

Get your sec back up to above 2.5, and get back in empire.
Lots of targets there even if you fly alone. Of course, you will need to hire a freelance spotter pilot to help you nab WTs in your solo career. Spotter work is kinda scarce in lowsec, but it is easier if there are targets around, and your guy has middling intelligence.
90% of the work of piracy does not involve piratical stuffs.

Bounce around the regions for a while keeping an eye on local.
When you find a system with a lot of people in the Local Channel, drop a probe or two and scan for barges and haulers. (Scan probes are your friend ) It may even be in your best interest to scout these systems in an alt.
Find a bunch of systems that look promising and vary which ones you hit and when. Try not to set up a predictable pattern that your prey can exploit.
Make sure you go after ships you can actually take. Nothing is more embarrassing than having the Mining Barge you were extorting blast your T1 Cruiser with T2 drones... I'm sure I'm not the only person that's happened to.
Keep the smack-talk to a minimum.
Good Luck

this is generally what i do.
i.) Jump into system, scan 360 max.
ii.) narrow target to nearest planet e.g vii [say 10 belts]
iii.) warp to said planet, close scan to 30 degrees zoom out putting target rectice/square box on your own ship
iv.) turn box to align with belts until target apears. .
99.9% of the tiem i solo, its all about the hunt for me not kills. If i make a good hunt i get what i require out of it. kills and loots a bonus v.) warp to belt, pwn or be pwned
