...thats my advice on how to shut the impatient "I WANT IT NOW!!!" crowd up.
Did you know Scotty's been lying to Kirk for years?!!!
"the engines cannea take it Cap'n" - my ar$e!
"I cannae beam ye up! Thars too much interference Cap'n!" - Bullsh!t, he's just wanting to skive for another half hour while Kirk's off the ship!
"I need 24 hours ta git tha warp core back online Cap'n" - bollox! He could o' done in 12!
So CCP take the Scotty approach...
When you figure out a date of when somethings due for completetion - keep it to yourself and tell the playerbase it'll be ready a week or two AFTER that date.
1. We're non the wiser...
2. You get a couple more weeks grace period to make sure everythings ok...
3. The whiners can't whine...
4. And Scotty gets to keep his reputation as a miracle worker. 
All in all, eveyone's a winner!
(except maybe Kirk)

Keep in mind that they may have used the Scotty Approach and the engines were unable to take it

They said it would be published on december the 15th. That means they still have 6,5 hours left to get the show on the road.

They still have 14 hours if they want pull a fast one and say they meant PST.

Then again they have had over 3 months to get this patch ready for implimentation. When after 3 months they release a date for implimentation I would expect that date to be met.

CCP does use the scotty approach, but whilst scotty usually meets the extended deadline, CCP doesnt
