Anybody know how this is going to work. I've heard a lot about it but have some questions. For example will it destroy the lesser ore in the roids it's mining in? Is it explosive in your hold or just in space? Is there a certain size low grade roid it has to be in?
Anybody know the full details?

Went on choas, trained the skill, equipted the DCM miner then the server went down  And now i cant get back in  ...Damn you "Full Cluster (50)" 
Anyway as soon as i get on i'll let u know.

Meroxit ore is explosive and does damage in your cargo hold. You mine it till the asteroid explodes, then gather the floating chunks. This will also slow you down, as you willneed repairers mounted to your indy to haul the stuff without exploding. A deep core mining laser mines 240 ore units a minute on normal stuff, and can be fitted to industrials. A battleship can evidently support one or two of these, and a specialized mining frigate can handle thembest of all.

Well, just what i saw as far as the mining process goes.
The Deep Core Mining laser has short range -- about 5k. When you start mining, after a while a green toxic cloud forms around the 'roid and remains there while you mine, and for few minutes after. The cloud deals 140-180 hp of damage every 30 seconds... if you train the DCM skill the damage is reduced per skill level if am not mistaken.

Wow that roid does more damage than Miso.
Will the elite frigates still have it explode in their hull? It's kind of cool that it destroys the low end ore.

Hmm this 'Meroxit' ore, what kind of minerals does it contain and how much of them (It yields Morphite, right?)? Is a special Refining skill needed for it, or a specific level of the normal refining skills? Does it destroy lesser ores when in station?

Morphite I think and it is required for construction of T2 items (no not Terminator 2)

Yeah special refining skill. It yeilds morphite. 1 unit of meroxit is worth around 35-50k isk on the npc market, and morphie is required for most higher-level tech 2 production.

I mined it for a few minutes on chaos saturday. As josephine said, you get damaged every so often while mining it. miners take 150cpu. With electronics 5 and 6 quantum cpus i can fit 7 dcm miners on a megathron. Each dcm miner pulls in 1 mercoxit ore per minute. With the damage cloud, standard cans are destroyed very quickly, so anchored cans will be required to mine this ore. Ore size is 40m3, and you'll need 250 to refine. I've not mined enough of the ore to find out what the refine minerals are for it yet.

you get the same amount of this ore from any asteroid you mine?I mean its doesnt matter if you deep mine scordite or crockite?

Good question:
How are we to select which roid to mine? Is the densist roids like veldspar and scordite the best for mining of this minerals? Or are there some other considerations?

oh, my appologies. On chaos there is a bigass mercoxit roid that you can mine. Mining the mercoxit roid produces 1 ore/min. I'll have to mine other ores to see it's distribution.

Now i must say im pretty confused about all this :Can you deep mine other ore then mercoxit also or only that ore?Does evey asteroid produce same ore when deep mining or other?Does an asteroid get automatically annihilated when deep mining?
