I will start this thread off. About 1 and a half year ago KIA was at war with ASCN. Well it turned out I had a real life friend in ASCN that ran missions and had a faction fitted raven. So I convo the guy and ask him what he is doing yada yadda yadda where is he running his missions at. He tells me so I get a gank crew together and we head off. After a little while of waiting outside of station in my sheild tanked scorp with 3 warp disruptors he undocks. I ask him to fire on me so I can see how my tank holds. He does just that and I lock him warp disrupt him and call in the Calvary. He drops in 45 seconds and I made about 300 mill + off his loot. That is by far one of the worst things in EVE I have ever done.
Can anyone beat that???

Actually, THIS game is more like a Hobby to a lot of people.

I spotted some farmers in low sec. Turns out they were in a gang of 1x indy and 4x BS. So I gathered some wingmens. I gang invited every farmer until one of them accepted and the indy pilot actually did. I initiated warp, kicked him before he noticed and we all warped to their deadspace. We found them in the 3rd stage and ganked them leaving us with some very nice loot.

theres a long list
I once got talking to a noob who was having trouble making it in trade. Well I asked him how much isk he had etc. was only a few mil. I told him I needed as many torpedo's as possible for a war effort (hey, atleast that was true, they were damn expensive back then) and told him I would double his money if he brought me them. So he spent all his isk on torpedo's and even sold his only cruiser to buy more. He shows up, I gank, w00t.

I don't know how mean this is but it caused quite an inconvenience to the unfortunate pilot who was podded...
It was a while ago, so all I can really remember was that a few of us in Millennium at the time were doing a small patrol through our space (maybe it was an RA? I can't remember if this was in Tribute, Cache or Curse...)
Anyway, we had a difficult time catching this guy, and when we finally did we managed to put him in a pod. The guy smacked us quite a bit in local after taking his ship, so when we scrambled his pod...
We held him there.
One of our pilots went back and got a rookie ship and began to chip away at the pod. It must have taken 5 minutes for the pod to finally ***** the structure of the poor pod pilot. The guy was smacking local all the way, and yelling for us to 'just kill me already!'
I'm working on it! |

I'm glad you're not my RL mate, because I would have ****ed you one.
But back on topic, the meanest thing I have done is when I was 0.5 to 0.1 pirate hunting in Empire. I did this before I was a member of my current corp/alliance. Me and an ingame corp mate are hanging around in a 0.4 system and get chatting to some guy in a Ferox. We inform him we are hunting pirates and he asks if he can join. All the time on Vent me and my corp mate are discussing things.
Anyway, we form up a gang with him, after checking a few belts there is a distinct lack of targets so we turn on our new buddy and kill him instead of the pirates. Total supprise for him I imagine. I had no regrets but my corp mate felt bad and paid for a new ship and fittings.

Back in my RP times I was once bored in lowsec and happened upon a guy ratting in a Catalyst from a corp we disliked, who persistantly used to smacktalk us.
I was flying my Malediction. He was taking a pounding off a 40k cruiser rat and was barely tanking, so I tackled and held him there... and just... watched.
Amusement set in as he vanished in a blue flash, without me firing a shot. He then made a swift trip to the cloning facility.
Harsh, but it teaches people not to smacktalk.

BS He did what you said only because you were in RL friends. Do you seriously think he would have done it if you would have been a total stranger to him?
So your actions (asking him as a friend to do this and that) were based on out of game things. Only a game, eh?

One day last year I was returning to Paragon Soul after an op, and found some random sitting outside the station in a slasher. We used to see this a lot in the south, people claiming ridiculous courier missions or escrows without realising where the goods actually were.
Usually with these types, I'm one of the first to convo, politely explain the situation and recommend he get the hell out of the area, etc. But for whatever reason that day I just wasn't feeling too diplomatic. So instead I swapped to a geddon and one-volleyed him, then his pod too.
He must have looked up my info afterwards, cos a few minutes later he joined our corp's public channel and had a good long rage at me in front of my CEO. We had a good chuckle about it once he was gone.

To everyone who liked what he did: You are scum too.
Sure, this is just a game, but trust is built up on little things and ends up reaching the really important stuff, eventually. I hope you continue to betray everyone you know untill you are known as a liar and sadist who laughs at other peoples misery. And I hope you will one day really need somebodys help, and they deny you it.
This uniquely EVE culture of betrayal and theft is the worst thing I have ever seen in gaming, people like you are the downfall of society, and you're so stupid that for the imediate gain of whatever you're aiming for, you rip down the very foundations of what a community is about.
Keep saying it's just a game, maybe that will trick you sort of people into thinking you have any character. IMO the fact that you lie, trick and deceive for FUN just makes you seem even more less educated than if you did it out of necessity.

Now that is a little harsh don't you think? Which is worse, your personal attack on the OP or him blowing up a few pixels? It's people like YOU, the one's who think they are supremely correct, who are the downfall of modern society. Lets get this back on track. This is a sort of "in progress" I suppose but whenever I web and scram someone in combat I ask them for money, not too much, no need to be unreasonable and if they pay I let them go, this builds a reputation of a man of my word, however, I kill every second capture after they have paid me, this builds a reputation for ruthlessness. Combined it means people always pay up and 50% of the time I still blow them away ^^

A few pixels ? Convenient excuse eh ? I don't think this is harsh at all. Someone works hard for something, someone else comes and takes it away with nothing but pure malicious intent/greed (scumbag). You're no better than a 2 year old child belting another 2 year old child over the head so YOU can play with the toy. The only difference is they don't know any better.

Well then by that logic all actions made by a player upon another player which aren't sanctioned by both parties are wrong. Let's all just go mine side by side. Seriously, there is a difference between taking something in real life and taking something virtual, people have to come to see that otherwise.. to be honest.. EVE isn't the game you were looking for, every aspect of it, from combat to production, impacts upon another player's gameplay. By your logic it's wrong to undercut prices on the market because the person you are undercutting is loosing out, there has to be a place where the line is drawn and in my opinion that line is the boundary between real and virtual. I'm sorry if i've upset anyone, seriously.

Oh btw I'm still going to play, because I like playing... doesn't mean I have to like every aspect otherwise I'd "go back to WoW" or some equally stupid remark.

I agree. This is just a game - that's their argument, no? That one would take advantage of the trust of a real life friend because of a GAME, there might be something wrong there. I have no problem taking advantage of people in game, but if a friend betrayed my trust like that for a few isk in game, I wouldn't trust him ever again for more important things. If your friend still does, he is more stupid than you make him out to be originally. |

I'd say it depends on how your and your friends view on the game is, how serious both take it and how you have treated eachother earlier. Matter of perception.
If you know that he will be seriously bitter about it and you just don't care, then I think it's quite lame to treat a friend like this. I'd never do that.
But I agree that EVE is a game that gives you the chance to experience and play with the dark side. Everyone in EVE knows that it's part of the game. So I think it's a big difference, if you are evil in EVE or in RL. When someone enters the EVE playground, he knows that people are encouraged to play evil, if they like. In this sense it's not unfair to be evil.
I only trust people, who I know for some time. And only those can fail me. From everyone else I'm prepaired for the worst in EVE, because I know this game is cut-throat and allows people to be mean, if they like to try it out.

I like the few pixles arguement from people I hear time to time.
I used to be a web designer.. Was just pixles.
I do my checking online....just pixles.
I have rl friends in eve...Just pixles?
Or maybe we can use the other analogy. "it's just a game"
maybe i have some friends over to the house. We play cards I have an extra deck up my sleeve or maybe I mark all the cards before they get here. heck it's just a game they wont mind.
maybe we play monopoly but I buy a second game before hand and stash a bunch of the money from it and slowly bring it out as I need it. It's just a game.
maybe I have a friend and we play a game of basketball. Since he's my friend I know he's got a trick knee. So what the heck I trip him now and then knowin he's gonna fall. Just a game.
The fact that you did it is bad enough. Yep you win this contest. The fact that your proud of it obviously? sad really.
"LOOK AT ME EVERYONE I CAN CHEET THE HELL OUT OF A REAL LIFE FRIEND"
Personally no I wouldn't have done anything to ya in rl had you been my friend. Course then again you wouldn't be my friend anymore either.
At that point who gave up a friendship over a few pixles? the one feeling betrayed or the one doing the betrayal. Kentucky where the goats roam and the rednecks run free |

so either you trust nobody or you trust only ingame people? believe I would trust someone that is a real life friend before a character.

Yes. Except we would play such evil games occasionally with eachother, because we don't take those things too seriously and both of us know it. It matters not so much, what you do to your friend in EVE, but how he feels about it.
E.g. if some corp mates betrayed me or my corp in EVE, some who I trust by 100%, then I'd be really disgusted. They wouldn't be my mates anymore. Simple. Because if you think you know someone and then they betray you, it's not something you take easily.
On the other hand I don't give a sh** if some other random eve player tries to trick me, it's part of the game. I never trusted him anyway and expected it. It's a matter of trust and what you expect from someone and what not. _______ I came, I read, I lol'ed. |

So, I was a month old newb in Hysera, and me and a corp mate was bored, so we started convoing people. Well I convo this guy and I didn't get a response, and just before it was about to time out, he accepted, and I asked him to help me with a lvl 1 mission. I was in a caracal, and the guy was like oh im only in a moa. I was like thats cool can you come help? Well it turns out he was 8 jumps out, and flies all the way back, and gangs with me at a station. I warped him to a planet at 100km where my friend was waiting in a harpy, and we killed him, and ransomed his pod for 25 million isk. He got his corp to war dec us and we got our alliance to wipe the floor with them =) Thats gotta be the worst thing I've ever done.

Did I mention the OP is scum?
Thank you very much, i couldn't have said it any better.

While my gut says the OP may be making this up, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and sheesh - do you actually have any good friends - lol.
All the bad things kind of blur into one but when I was 1st an outlaw I decided to get my sec back up. Managed to convince CVA people to let me rat in their space, and for a while, I behaved well and got my sec back down to under -2. But boredom got the better of me and 1 day a ferox and 5 noobs in frigates jumped in from Misaba to R3. I was in a nighthawk I think and proceeded to blow up all the noob frigates who just sat there wondering what was happening (the ferox ran btw).
I've not been popular in CVA space since then :) - but they have killed 2 nighthawks and a cerb of mine in the meantime so they can;t complain (playing drunk in CVA space is a bad idea m'kay :)).

Originally by: Malicel I will start this thread off.
Stole everything from my old corp (except the BPOs and BPCs, and some items belonging to individuals in unlocked containers in the corp hanger), either melted and sold, or just sold, and made a lot of isk...
Ooo there was that time that I was in low sec with another guy. There was a gatecamp and someone else arrived at the camp at the same time as us, we couldn't get through (this was before WTZ).
We all warped out and convoed the other guy. We met up, arranged how to get through. We grouped together with this stranger, made our way to the camp, beat them off, jumped through, then me and my gangmate set upon the player we'd helped / helped us and killed him too :) Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes - Devil ([email protected]) |
