Mercenary Coalition - Two Years
ItÆs a little late, but I was a bit pre-occupied this weekend with a certain alliance whose name is made up of three vowels. 
Last Friday, the 16th of February marked the two year anniversary of the Mercenary Coalition. Since the last time I made a post like this, many things have taken place. In the past year I have seen things in game that I would have never imagined being a part of back in April of 2004 when I started BDCI. The last year has been marked by many changes in the MC. Everything from our internal structure to how we play the game has been altered. ItÆs been a year of great joy and amazing accomplishments. ItÆs also been a year of sadness and loss, both in game and in real life.
The Contracts
Our contracts changed from short term Empire warfare to massive deep space sieges requiring a mind boggling amount of logistics and planning. We saw the beginning of the end of The Big Blue, we danced with Imperium one last time, we helped FIX (finally) get their egg hatched and we enjoyed many sleepless nights fighting IAC. We declared war on the North and then took part in killing the first player piloted Mothership in EVE.
The Big Ships
Our capital ship fleet grew from a few pilots to one of the largest in EVE. We knew that Dreads and Carriers would make the MC a valuable commodity and weÆve continued to expand that capability by adding several classes of æSuper CapitalÆ ships to our arsenal. No other mercenary organization in EVE, and not many alliances, can offer the same first strike capability as the MC.
The Outposts
Of all the decisions we made, none has been more controversial than our decision to create a 0.0 stronghold for our alliance. In all, we built four outposts in a remote constellation. In principle, it seems simple enough û every band of mercenaries or even pirates has a æsecret hideoutÆ or such. That idea alone was enough to cause many of our number to embrace the idea. In addition, many MC members simply want to experience everything the game has to offer and building giant green phallic-shaped stations in space appeals to them.
Personally, I knew it would be a necessity if my alliance ever wanted to evolve to the next level. You canÆt sit in Empire and expect to keep pace with the military capabilities of others in EVE. While their geographic location has been the cause of a lot of grief, itÆs not a decision that weÆve ever regretted.
And we did it all with never more than 80 people online at once. 
The Cards
The four cards of the MC are one of the most instantly recognizable logos in EVE. For a time, we almost added a Joker. Then we were actually one corp short for a few months. In the end, we lost two corps in The Corperation and North Star Networks but gained one in CONIN. While CONIN could not replace what we lost in TC and NSN, they brought their own unique flavor and attitude to the MC and are today as much as part of the brotherhood as could be wished for. Then, not wishing to search for another corp we took the extraordinary step of creating one from nothing. Eternity was born to be an MC corp from the ground up and, today, EternityÆs pilots top our kill board and number some of the best talent in EVE.

We realize that not everyone like us or even believes in the concept of a mercenary in EVE. Regardless, we still wish to thank everyone here who plays the game and works to make it interesting and entertaining. We try very hard to give our friends, our enemies, our clients and our targets an equal amount of respect. The Movie

since joining the MC i have seen what eve truely is.. from the fight to the friendships the MC shows that a few can band together and build something truely epic. Every battle and every carebear moment has a purpose and a meaning that betters the whole of us....
To the MC i thankyou for making eve, to the eve community that like us or not you cannot deny that the MC in the two years of existance has added to the flavour.

If you guys behave, I might even jet some cake for -A- near your POSes .
When I joined MC, I was but a wee nubbin (well...moreso than now) and had no concept of the astounding string of Taranis losses that was in my path. My first contract was against NFC/Sparta, and I was immediately hooked. I have never looked back, and, in good times and bad, I have always had my dear friends and alliance-mates to fly with. I honestly couldn't come up with a group of people I would more like to fly with. I have a great amount of trust in my brothers and sisters, and it is with great joy that I fly to war with them, again and again.
Despite what the ever-present alt flamers will say, this is a unique entity in EVE, and I am proud to wear the four aces.
Don't be so sure that the loss of our space would destroy us, either. Just remember what Obi-Wan said to Darth Vader in their final duel...
