Edited by: Franconis on 20/02/2007 03:22:24 I played around with the tracking guide, and i found out that signature radius actually counteracts the problems with tracking. Translation: istabs actually don't help you to outtrack your opponent AT ALL!!!

Theres a reason why theyre called nanoships... they use nanofibers which dont increase sig radius afaik.

Edited by: Aayan on 20/02/2007 03:30:56 Even with the MWD on with the full sig radius penalty it doesn't matter, you still can barely track them. They are moving at such and such a speed, your guns have such and such a rad/sec tracking, they move too fast for you to track. They might as well have the sig radius of a moon, it is very hard to hit them. -Steve
Edit: oh and if you don't believe me just d/l any of the nano-videos with people shooting and actually hitting the nano ship... even when missiles hit them they do like .5 damage.

We're talking 2500 - 3000 sig in reality. To be fair, orbit speeds are about half that as well. So while you can evade shortrange BS turrets, and can even get down to about 33% of their maximum damage on a high-end NanoBS, it is infact true that they're rather easy to hit with guns (And as people have mentioned, more so with TCs and TPs).
The reason you don't see people dying to them alot is mostly the ability to dictate range, which is pretty much the entire purpose of those ships. Making no-fly zones or forcing warpouts is really easy without specialized ships though. People are just awful, and even more people are awful and specialized in missiles

Not sure about pulses but I know for a fact a well setup autopest just rips apart a nano BS.

I ran the stats again with what you mentioned, and the chances to hit seem to be about the same. They no longer seem to be the "I win button" that everyone claims them to be. They may be able to escape easily, but they certainly can't just hit a button and win every fight.
I personally think they are balanced, and I see no need for a nerf.

your using one? it may be easy to make them run but its almost impossible to kill them even with a rapier , curse lachesis and a few heavy hitters.
there shouldnt be such a thing as almost risk free pvp imo.
its far easyer to kill arazu's etc than it is recons which is just silly

When a BS can chase down a Ceptor...
You cant claim balance.

Oh I don't know. As odd as it seems "big" ships are often faster than little ships. Take Nimitz class aircraft carrier. It could outrace a Corvette (about as small as you get before patrol boats). Really quite fast for something so big. What is doesn't have that the Corvette does is maneuverability and great acceleration (although I have been told by people who have sailed on the Nimitz class that they have a remarkable acceleration...still slower than a Corvette though). Seems to me a ceptor should be able to change course and Nanophoon would overshoot by a wide margin.
Never flown or been chased by a Nanophoon though so dunno. Just seems it should work like that.

True true. In space there's no air resistance, only inertia. There's nothing that should prevent a BS from flying just as fast as a ceptor, it should just turn like a brick.

Paying attention to how physics work in Eve is often beneficial when looking at balance issues in Eve. -

A nano-bs can only chase down a ceptor if (A) it has mwd rigs and the inty doesn't, or (B) it has snakes and the inty doesn't. Compare a nanophoon fitted with mwd rigs and a faction mwd against a speed-inty fitted with mwd rigs and the same faction mwd. The inty should be able to out-zoom the nanophoon np. However, its obvious that most interceptor pilots aren't going to spend 70m isk on 2 mwd rigs and whatever price your faction mwd on an interceptor.
I agree that they need some balancing, but being capable of outrunning an inty isn't the only reason. Till the nerf, have fun with them while you can. I know I will.

Let's put it like this: I was happily cruising in a Crusader (interceptor) with a named MWD at about 4.5k Than, wazam >>> here goes a Domi at 8k ???????? WTF I'm supposed to be much faster than a BS !!
Other than that, don't care about nanoships much, kinda fond of them as I like being fast.
