So I jumped through a gate in .2 sec... I always take a second too look around before uncloaking. I noticed a BS hugging the gate. So in the interest of self preservation (I was flying a sniper setup in my Maelstrom) I looked directly in front of my ship, right clicked the asteroid belt and chose Warp to 100km. I uncloaked and started accelerating ( I had a WCS on) and the BS in question locked me and started trying to Warp Scramble me. I warped away... when I came out of warp I started getting NAILED by a POS (near an asteroid belt?) that I tanked for about 30 seconds while trying to turn and warp away again. I ended up getting killed by the POS guns but the f'ing kill mail said that the pilot in question at the aforementioned gate got the KB with a Warp Scrambler....
WTF?

Sniper Set up POS's take no prisioners it seems. With a few sb's and some t2 captial ammo they could hit you from a great distance
(joking of course)

Edited by: Ash Vincetti on 20/02/2007 20:11:19 It appears you right clicked on a moon instead of an asteroid belt. Also, any pilot who had activated a hostile module on you for certain ammount of time within your death will be on the killmail, hence the BS pilot being on the kill. ----- /ash |

There was NOTHING else in that direction, the only thing over there was the little triangle for the asteroid belt...

Isn't there a log of your in-game logs stored somewhere in the client folder?
EDIT: Found it - EVE Folder, Capture - Game Logs. Take a look and see if you can find the right one.

The guy who deployed the pos gets the killmail I think or the owner corporation.

Moons don't have an icon, but you can still wind up warping to them. It's happened a lot.
Don't know why they have that... ---------

Isn't a moon icon a small circle?

Well it does have a circle with a small dot on it, but that's only when you're really close, or when you make an icon stack by hovering, or something else. Normally they don't show. ---------

Yes, though you have to be holding down 'Alt' to be able to see the object. Here's what happened to the op: He went to click on the roid belt that was in front of him however there was a sneaky weaky moon orbiting the same planet as the roid belt was which was closer to your position than the belt and in the exact same position. I dare say that when you got the the 'roid belt' with the POS at it there was a distinct lack of astroids. Not to worry, it's happened many a time before. Yarr etc. |

I think he does worry, which is what makes it really satisfying that he was loaded with stabs. ---------

I agree.. although you only saw a lil triangle, you probably clicked a little to the side and selected a moon by accedient. An easy mistake to make while tryint to warp quickly.

As a general rule when i'm flying through hostile space I keep the planets on my overview.
You cant drop pos's here and you dont have to worry about the sneak moons when you use your overview to warp about.
Yes people will probably warp to a planet that lies in the direction you warped off too, but that will give you some time to bookmark a spot while in warp and immediately double back too it after you exit warp or select another suitable location to warp too.
I use planets because typically there aren't enough in a system to totally clog your overview (although there are some exceptions).

When moon and asteroid belt are close to each other clicking the belt may select the moon. I often have to reselect.

look at it like this. If you hadn't fit stabs you wouldn't have run away, and could have easily taken another BS considering he was tanking sentrys too which is like the damage of another battleship and he would have been set up for fairly quick locking. So stabs get you killed.
