My main has a sec status of -10 (9.998 or something). I am trying to raise him up to respectable levels. I thought training Fast Talk would put me on the right track, from a -10.0 to a theoretical -8.0 by training to Level 4. Yet my sec status didn't go up to -9.5 after training to Level 1, even after a relog.
Um, so, do I not understand the skill? No whining here, just want to understand how it works.

If I remember right it gives you 5% bonus to standing for security increase.
Meaning that you gain security status faster while NPC hunting, not a increase in what your current sec status is (does not raise your sec from -10 to -8).

Nobody with Fast Talk (even if only at Lvl 1) could ever have a secstatus of -10 if it had the same effect as Connections (but on CONCORD). So of course it makes only sense that the 5% are applied to security status increase. I don't know if the skills is borked, though.

Yep, figured that out when I read it a fifteenth time. Either I need to work on my reading comprehension, I was only seeing what I wanted to be true, or both.
Raising a sec status is such a grind, at that level every little bit helps. Now working on Fast Talk L3

So... that would mean noone can have a standing of -10 with diplomacy even at lvl 1?
Wouldnt sense imply the use of logic, wouldnt consistentness(?) be logic?

Standing towards Concord and security status are not exactly the same (at least not when skills come into play). Connections/diplomacy do affect your standing towards Concord, but your security status always is the unmodified standing towards Concord. =AFK=

So does anyone have a confirmation that having Fast Talk V makes any difference whatsoever? When I trained the skill I don't see a greater % increase on my Security Status logs. Skill getting the same 0.16% for ship X, etc.
I've heard rumors it was broken, some people say it's fine, does anyone have actual confirmation one way or the other?

Edited by: wettestwillie on 13/08/2007 04:41:27 There's definitely something wrong with it. I've looked at my security status gain from killing particular mission rats before and after a few levels of the skill. No difference.
Edit: Apparently it applies to less SS loss instead of better gain.

I read somewhere you don't gain security status through mission running, only belt rats.

You can see for yourself sec status increase in your character sheet from mission rats.
