Photoshop? Fireworks? Paintbrush ? I don't mind spending some time learning how it works, as long as the results are good. Oh and I'm not looking for sig offers ;), want to do the whole DIY thing.

Edited by: Kua Immortal on 21/02/2007 12:26:25 Edited by: Kua Immortal on 21/02/2007 12:24:05 OK I've been playing around with PS a bit (a very little bit so far - I just learnt how to make a box green \o/). I'm just a bit concerned that it's intended for editing photos and therefore works in BMP. Just wondering if something like Fireworks would serve the purpose better.
ECM? Oh Eve Character Manager? Hm I've yet to find someone who uses that, what extra or different features does it have compared EveMon?

Photoshop by far. Takes a while to figure it all out, but there's tons of tutorials out there. I'd try some of those, they are great because they usually have all kinds of tricks in them that would take a long time to figure out on your own.
It's not just for editing pictures either, it works with almost any image format.

Yep, Adobe Photoshop is my recommendation, try not to get Elements if you can, it might be user-friendly, but it sucks oh so much compared to the full photoshops. CS2 is latest out, I believe CS3 has a beta out.

Depends on the person I suppose... I prefer PSP, but have access to and use both.
I learned on PSP, and you can do everything with it that PS can do, though you do have to add things to it and make your own brushes some times.

Photoshop for sure. It may not be the cheapest thing ever, but in my opinion, it is well worth it. If you cannot afford the full version right now though, Photoshop Elements is a good half-way mark to learn a few skills before you get the real thing. That's what I started out with, and I think that it helped a lot before jumping right into things.

Photoshop for sure, GIMP/GIMPshop if you're on a budget.
For animated sigs though, Ulead GIF Animator is the win.

Thanks for the advice. Very much enjoying playing around and learning how to use PS. The brush tools are very cool .

Hmm I was looking the website also, I know my Photoshop Stand Alone (non-CS non-FullSuite) use to be a free Student License. But I can't seem to find non-CS photoshop in there website now, maybe they removed that program.
