Have you try to undock from Jita Iv-4 station at prime time? Have you seen theese many ships at undock, that are stays and doing nothing. What are they doing there? THEY WAITING FOR COMBAT TO STEAL LOOT! If you have official war and trying to fight at Jita, dosens of neutral ships lock you and your opponent, waiting who will die and fly to his wreck to loot it. No, they don't afraid, they loot wreck from losing corps, who can't kill them anymore. At least at 15 mins. And they fly cheap frigates and loot things for millions. They cause lag. They cause long time swapping when you warp to Jita IV-4. They cause black screen when you undocking. They make impossible to fight at Jita. They stay there whole day and doing nothing but stealing. Some thing in Rens and other trade systems. What CCP can do? Nothing impossible. When i played Everquest, there was a loot timer. Just do that first 5 minutes only owner corp/alliance and killer corp/alliance can loot wreck. You will see, undock will be much cleaner and local drops down :)

a good solution would be if ccp invested some money to buy new hardware to keep jita running lag free for everybody. hope they come up with something ---------------------------------------------- EVE-Files Don't run my drones will catch u anyway .. |

I wish more folks would go in and wtfpwn Jita with a huge smart bomb every few hours. Maybe all the noobs would then catch a grip and go explore the rest of the EVE universe.

While I can appreciate that lag is a problem in Jita, for a new player (at least a Caldari) it is by far the best system in which to shop.
You don't have to fly all over the universe to find what you want. Pretty much any item you need will be available there.
Stealing loot and all that may well be a problem, but the simple fact is that Jita is a high security system that is very valuable to a new player and the experience that person has in EVE.

Stealing gives you the right to kill them - so do it.

It may be invaluable for a main shopping channel- and an 'experience' it definately is. Jita is a system I stay away from unless absolutely necessary. I won't buy from any station unless forced to, I won't dock @ any station, I won't take an Agent in the system. My experience - avoid Jita at all costs - you spend more time restarting EVE after undocking than playing ><

No amount of hardware is going to fix Jita, the problem is database requests, can you imagine how many thousands of requests it generates a second ? The real truth is dont go to Jita.
The only way to fix it is to move all those T2 BPO selling alts out, remove half the stations, and leave only a few low quality lvl 1 & 2 agents. Remove all those station services including medical facilites & production.
They should just start making the people who sit there purely as selling alts pay rent.

Dont allow people to dock if they have stolen items from a can, that will solve it. Same as when you have attacked someone recently.

Undocking from Jita 4-4 makes me crash because of so many ships outside, someone go flush them out with smartbomb batallion

And instead of crashing due to scores of player-controlled vultures, you crash to dozens of NPC concord ships...

I am a Caldari, and I see no need for going to Jita! In fact, in the 4 months I have been playing, I didn't even KNOW where Jita was, much less go there. And while in the last couple of weeks I have made a couple of trips to Jita, mostly to pick up contracted items, I find it more pain than it is worth. I even found a nice agent to work with, but since I spent more time on missions getting thru Jita than on the whole rest of the mission, I soon gave up on using her. I find Erenta a much better place to work out of, especially given that it is only a few jumps from two other regions as well. And it almost never lags.

I like the idea of making Jita a no combat zone. Then all the waring parties will move to the various gates entering Jita. Spread it out a little. CCP could just disable all weapons while in the Jita system.

The even more people will huddle in jita's safe zone. That is a dark path i hope this game doesn't take.

What id when i have to go to jita...
Ive made a BM, right inside the undock range for 4/4. Now when i come poking along in my charon, do i warp straight to 4/;4 and dock? Nooooo
I open up folder, and choose my "bowling for noobs" bookmark... I can't tell you how funn it is to come in there in the charon to the "pausing" spot for all those nooblets and splat them 100's of km away from the dock. Sorta like a jita speed bump.
Then i just dock, pick up my stuff, and undock, to a nice clear route all the way out to the gate....
Works wonders..

Lol, sounds like a real hoot.
Seriously though, there is two problems that cause large numbers of ships like that to upset everyone and lag is only one of them. And for the most part is the lesser of the two.
Just to give some idea of what I mean: Lag does not slowing down framerate. Lag does not cause lockups. Lag also does not cause crazy **** like reboots. All that lag can do is delay when stuff appears on your display while the display is still rendering at full framerate.
So, to account for such things another problem must be at play. And the quick answer is the client software is wanting too much of the client hardware. In Eve's case, it's the CPU and RAM speed. The requirements are insane for such a minor amount of data to be processed by the client but that's exactly what is happening.
Stuttering, to give it a name, is my favourite name so far. I'd say Eve has some implementation flaws and bloatware codebase that really needs some attention from the developers.

Lag is caused by manny things in special in Jita . the market is one of the problems , when u open market will load lot of stuff u don't care , for example i open market to search for a specific item but when i click on market i have to wait 2-3 minutes till will load all market , when u click on market should load only search tab( by default) not the whole market people and places , when i set a destination i open people and places search for solar system than set destination , why if i forgot People and places on budies or bookmarks i have to wait 2-3 minutes to load even if i don't need that info's , i want just to set a destination , this should start blank and if u want to see budies and bookkmarks to chose manualy that tabs Assets , again if i want to search for a item in my assets when i open this i have to load 200 station where i have assets , and on some of this i have more than 500 items and manny times have to wait to load couple minutes till i can click on search tab . This things cause lags also
Sry my english , i m not a native english speaker so pls no negative comments about mistakes i made , if u want send me a mail with flames and whatever u want.

A possible solution for a lot of station traffic jams (not just jita IV moon IV) would be to adopt a "jettison" style to undocking.
By that I mean just as a jet can can appear in one of four spots around your ship you are undocked in one of four spots around a station.
Custs down on the traffic, makes station campers plan a bit more and although it wont reduce system wide lag it will reduce having to spend more than enough time enduring it :)

I Propose a new weapon type. The "very smart bomb".
Deployed from stations that have lag and targets only ships that have been sitting idle for >5 minutes. Hits as hard as a doomsday weapon.
It's a kind of "sod off" message from the station.
