Edited by: Dentata on 22/02/2007 15:02:00 So here i am, Minmatar-specialised to the bone, can fly all Minnie ships apart from Capitals (can't be arsed to fly those). All fitting-skills maxed, also capskills, tanking shield and armor pretty decent too, Minnie-BS lvl5, but usually flying around with my Claymore (u gotta love this toy ).
My next plan is to become a master of the mighty phoon, I've always been addicted to this ship from it's looks and it's versatility. And the versatility is the main problem now: According to EveMon it would take me roughly a year to max out all the skills I wish to have to fly this ship
Ok, after getting comfortable with this fact the question of correct order sprang to mind. -Should i first go for advanced Projectile (Autos or Artillery?)? -are Drones more important(t2 Heavies or Sentries?) -How about maxing Navigation (doing this atm)? -Missile skills (t2 Torps or Cruises?)? -Is EW viable for a phoon (I think so, but maybe this comes last )
I don't seek the fastest way to Nanophoon (not interested in fotm) just some general hints on what to train first, second, third....
Any input appreciated
EDIT: The phoon will be used for PvP only, mainly in small gang warfare. Forgot to mention this

I have little PvP experience, but I do have some experience with Typhoons in PvE. I'll share what know:
For missiles, go for cruises over torps. Siege launchers are hard to fit.
Autocannons or Artilleries depends on your style of fighting. 1400s are hard to fit but 1200s are ok.
Drones are important. The Typhoon has one of the largest battleship drone bays ingame. It does fit 5 t2 heavies, but personally I prefer a set of t2 lights + some medium TP/Web drones.
Maxing navigation is a good idea.
I'm not too sure about EW. You only have 4 mid slots and probably want an AB/MWD in one of them.. You might go for EW drones, they have relatively low skill reqs.

Here's the order I'm planning for the phoon:
1) Large AC Spec 4, Gunnery support skills 5 2) Navigation Skills 3) Drone Interfacing 5, Combat Drone Op 5, Heavy Drone Op 5 4) Cruise/Torp Specs 4, Missile Support Skills 5
Reasoning:
1) Powergrid on the phoon isn't great, so you'll have a very hard time getting a decent artillery fitting, plus helps T2 AC Tempest 2) Minmatar love going slightly faster than the other races, so good navigation skills will help you across the board 3) You'll use drones more often on the other Minmatar ships than you will Cruiser/Torps 4) Lastly, do missile skills since theres not much of a reason to use cruise/torp launchers on the Tempest or Maelstrom
That is assuming your looking to use an AC/Missile phoon... if you want a Nanophoon I would change it to:
1) Navigation 2) Missile 3) Drones 4) Gunnery

Thanks! Sounds very reasonable to me. So my next skill to train will be Large Projectile to 5, followed by large AutoSpec to 4. Looking at something like 25 days from now. Not a big thing in the grand scheme
Nonetheless I'm still interested in other opinions, so keep it comming.

AC phoons are quite scarry actually.
To add to the above poster - you will need good armor tanking skills as well. So look for:
T2 ACs supported by gunnery - especially Rapid Fire and Traj. Analysis. T2 Heavy Drones with drone interfacing 5 and the rest of the drone support skills. You will want to train your engeneering and Electronics skills to a decent to high level. T2 Armor tank with compensation to 4. ---
This is not the 'nano-phoon' setup which will require you to train navigation skills and Missle skills in addition. An AC nano-phoon is not a very good idea.
