My internet's getting cut off tommorow and I need to find a new isp asap. I'd like one that's fast, reliable and has decent customer support. Any suggestions?

I use BT and contrary to belief its actually quite good,
2MB connection and in 3 years its gone down twice thats good service. Saying that when it did go down the customer service were useless its not 2 harsh on the wallet, my connection does have a limiter but as long as you ain't a serial down loader you won't notice

If you want good customer service, avoid NTL (I'm with them and when I have had technical issues in the past it's involved staying on the phone for over an hour). It's been taken over by Virgin now so not sure if that will change.
According to Which? the best overall ISP is Zen. BT, NTL, AOL and Telewest didn't make their top 10.

It has to have unlimited downloads. I leave bittorrent running 24/7 and dl around 8-10 gigs a day.
Zen is damn expensive. 40 quid a month for a 256kb line!

very decent customer service... been using it for a year now and it ahs aever failed me. Up to 8mb connection.. depends how fast your line can take. it does take into account how much you download but at ú24 a month for 50gb or an upgrade to 100GB at ú30 its not too shabby
edit .. also to mention that from 1am till 6am it dosnt meter how much you use it... and for me its better then most internets who say its 'unlimited' as they always have some sort of fair usage policy

I use BT for my broadband and I can't complain at all about the service or their aftercare, however, I do have a business connection, not a regular one and as such call the business support guys, they're nice and the twice i've had to call them (during the initial setup stage) they sorted my problems quickly and professionally.

Edited by: Patch86 on 23/02/2007 01:49:38 Edited by: Patch86 on 23/02/2007 01:47:52 I'm with Zen Internet, and they're brilliant. They're cheap, fast, and I've never (NEVER) in the 3 years or so I've been with them had a single problem, their end. And on those occasions I've had troubles, their technical support were great.
EDIT: ú40?! I'm on ú25 (ish) for an 8mb line.......

Tiscali is fairly cheap - we pay ú18.00 per month for one of these 'up to 8mb' connections with a FUP but no cap on downloads- in practice, this tends to be about 2mb most of the time, but up to 5mb has been known.
I'm not sure whether it's them, or the local infrstructure, or the wireless router that we're using that causes EVE to disconnect every so often, but in the absence of any conclusive evidence I'd probably still recommend them.

Its tiscali bud, there was a massive thread on here where all their customers were suffering the same problem around peak times.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've decided to try be broadband. They are apparently the fastest isp in the country and offer a 24mb line with unlimited downloads for only 25 quid a month. It sounds to good to be true but their reviews are decent so we shall see.

I suggest you read the small print as there are no ISP that will allow you 10GIG a day download for ú25 a month
The most free of them all, BLUEYONDER, is even trying out limiting the heaviest users in a trial that is to go nationwide this year, even though they still advertise no download limits
p.s. I am with them and it's only gone down twice or 3 times in 6 years, they are spot on -------------------------
