Why not use the marvel that is the Eve Insider section of the webby to allow people to change which skill their character is learning, or alternatively have an ingame feature that activates a different skill at a predetermined time. This way, people whose skills finish while they're at work etc, can keep training, rather than training 2hr-level-up skills while playing and a crasy 3-week level 5 while offline. Also, it would mean less characters' skills would be affected by extanded downtimes etc (such as the huuuuuuge one tonight while they sort Castor out). I only suggest this as i've already lost 2 hours training, and now have to get some sleep before going to work.

yeah, I agree with that, you should be able to change the skill in the Character info screen, can't see why you cannot, it's only small programming/scripting, that would have saved me at least 1 day of lost skill points since I began in eve 8 days ago

That would be awesome.. I'm being deployed to military service soon and I was considering canceling my account when I left since I dont have access to play while I'm gone for 6 months. But if I could train my skills via web access I'd be able to at least keep training my charicter while I'm gone.

I'm in the same situation as Joe with military deployments, 6 months is a long time for us to go without training.

I've been thinking quite the same. My training always ends when I'm in school, or away from home. So, starting a new training quick on my laptop via GPRS or something would be great! 
Or even when I'm in bed. I can reach out, grab my laptop, navigate my browser to EVE Insider, *click* *click*, and go back to sleep.

I think a compromise might be Skill queing.
Even though you might "Want" the player to log in to the game to update skills, Allow the player to Que up the Next 3 or 4 skills at a time. Or Maybe allow the person to at THE VERY LEAST Train through from level 1 to level 5 without stopping.
At this point I would be happy if the current skill would keep going until either it reached level 5 or was stopped and training time was transfered to another skill.
