I just did some ship invention for the 1st time. Item invention was, like i sayd in a previous post, uber before patch and now isk sink. I was hoping ship invention is good but look to my experiment:
10 Stabber BPC max runs me 30 pe 10 - produced by my self - 0 isk 10 Assembly instruction - 350mil 80 Minmatar starship datacore - 480mil 80 Mechanical Engineering datacore - 2bil 10 Stabber - 50 mil -------------------- No more no less than 2,88 bil ---------------------
Now the 2 days wait to invention to be done has gone, time to deliver:

5 runs vaga bpc = some like 700 i think So i lost some like 2,18 bil
As u can see 1/10 tryies has been a succes.My skills are all lev 4 ( mech engi, minmatar starship, minmatar encryption meth )
My question is for the comunity: I did something wrong?
In a later post i will like to open a discution about last Oveur's post about invention and its future...atm i'm looking for some quick replyes to calm down my nerves a bit :)

I just did me 10 attempts at module invention, same skills (3x lvl4) with "same" decryptor, but with "best named" base item, max run BPC (300) with high ME (160 or so) I got 6 x 14run BPC, coming to a total of 15M isk per run. There are few items that are worth inventing with those numbers.
I will however soon try another 10x for the same item (this item IS worth inventing for 15M per run )

I think its absolute *******s that CCP are using ppl's time and isk on the NON TEST server to test invention out, it's just crazy.

Every time I see the 'cost' of people's Invention since it came out it's the perceived 'cost' of the Datacores that seem to make this so uneconomic. I am, however, convinced that this is wrong and that 'dear old CCP' have a, not unreasonable, different view.
Unless I have got it completely wrong, all you actually need to do Invention is: T1 BPCs (Buy, Research, Copy); a Data Interface (one time cost, use forever - everyone who wants one will get one eventually and prices will reach a minimum); and the right Datacores. The use of a Decryptor and/or a Meta-tem as purely optional and can only assist.
But the design is that people get their own Datacores by getting R&D agents to gain RPs and buy them - so they should be a minimal cost item! Or effectively traded for ones you don't have.
The only way Invention is currently seen as so expensive is that people are basing it on buying ALL the Datacores. If you do your own R&D agents and use those Datacores to fund the ones you actually want, then the 'cost' goes down tremendously. Yes, if you just sell Datcores for iskies they have a 'value' - but it should not necessarily be brought into the Invention Equation
The one thing that is broken is that, for example, none of the Gallente R&D agents offer Mechanical Engineering! That's just plain illogical and needs to be addressed.

U are verry right. But like someone sayd once, if u have a friend who build a hac at 30 mil and sell it to u at 50 mil when market price is 200mil, and u lose it in a batlle, how much is the loss? 30mil? 50mil? or 200 mil? The answer is 200 mil, beacouse your friend who sell it that so cheap to u , can earn 200 from the market isntead of selling it to u cheap.
In the datacores situation is the same equation. Now i train no more no less than 11 characters to take datacores from agents.In 2 months i will have 66 datacore at each 5 days.When i will do invention with them and is unsuccesfull like my actual try how much i will lose? Same as now 2b in this case. That beacouse i see market activity on datacores. I see there are alot of peoples buying mechanical engineering at 20-25mil. So i sell them in market and someone else will try invention like i did and he will lose 2b also.This until, what? Everybody will know invention is isk sink and will not try anymore...
Every way you try to think, actual invention is isk sink. Maybe with lev 5 at every science skill will be a different situation. I will do that but i need a year for that :)
Anyway invention is the best ideea to be a t2 builder. But it needs a litlle bit love from devs...

I really wanted to get into production making things like tech 2 bpc from invention but im afraid that it wont be profitable with the current situation =(. Not sure what to atm, guess ill run missions for standing.

When everyone knows that invention is isk sink and BPO stop being seeded by agents guess what will be the price of datacores? I have 5 lv4 agents researching with Dai Lai with skill at 5. I get around a datacore per day. Unfortunaly it¦s in a field where datacores don¦t have much market value. Now let¦s say i setup more 2 chars with 5 agents each with research skill at 5 in a field where datacore sells for 20 million. Lst¦s say i get 25 datacores from each char per month. So 75 datacores per month at 20 million on one account. That¦s 1.5 billion per month with little work after the skill training and mission grinding. Datacore prices must (and will) go way low then they are now.
