ah, come now, don't make the devs ruin the fun for everyone.
If it's necessary for it to be removed, at least just make it an option to turn off the animation. (Right click -> Stop Animation -- on the button or autoscanner window perhaps?)

Never mind another useless animation. I would much more urgently ask for truncated entries in the scanner read-out.
I know that asteroid belts are asteroid belts. It's their numbers that differentiate among them. Yes, exactly those numbers that you cannot read.
Truncating "Asteroid Belt" to AB should do the trick.
And while we're at it, whose bloody brilliant idea was it to use the same icon for secure cans and loot containers?
