By orders of Emperor Maelstrom himself, I present the denizens of New Eden with the following official message from the Maelstrom Alliance... Emperor Maelstrom has issued an order to cut diplomatic ties to several of our colleagues and grant amnesty to our past aggressors while we consolidate our assets and consider our future goals.
(standings reset details in second reply if you don't want to read all of it)
Over the past year, the Maelstrom Alliance has experienced a lot - we transformed from empire alliance to 0.0 alliance, we've made friends, made enemies, made isk, lost isk, built economies, fought battles, moved around (a LOT), gained corporations, lost corporations, played the negotiations and politics game (waayyyyy to much :) ), built an outpost, fought to save an outpost, and finally lost an outpost. There have been good times and bad times, but the experience has definitely been worth it. That being said, the Maelstrom Alliance is no longer what it was before we lost Maelstrom Prime - it is time for us to look to a new future and to go back to our more distant past. For this reason, we will be resetting the vast majority of our standings, but before I go into those details, I just want to send out the following messages:
To Lotka Volterra:
The Maelstrom Alliance owes you a LOT. Even in the face of periods of internal complaints about the politics of dealing with you guys and the other members of the original Coalition :), there was always something I said to Maelstrom members - in a way, LV built Maelstrom Prime. If it were not for the opportunity we had in Omist, we never would have made the isk nor gathered our alliance together to construct Maelstrom Prime. For that, we are forever grateful - there are not many small, heavily industrial focused alliances that have the chance to even think of building an outpost in such good 0.0 territory. We wish LV best of luck in their continuing conflict, and we know that no matter what happens, you will survive in some way.
To all the friend corporations and alliances that helped us fight for Maelstrom Prime:
Your help was awesome - you came there knowing full well that defeat was all but inevitable, but you still came and fought along side of us. To all of you, you have our thanks and best wishes for all your future efforts.
To all the corps that have ever joined and left Maelstrom:
Yes, there were some bad apples, there was some betrayal, and there were some heated debates, but overall, it was a pleasure to work with all of you. You were a huge part in making Maelstrom what it was, and were the reason why we lasted as long as we did in Maelstrom Prime. It has been an honor to fly with you all, and we wish you best of luck in your future endeavors.
And finally, to our former enemies:
You provided us with some great challenges and some great fights. You gave Maelstrom the chance to show that it would fight to survive in 0.0 space through combat and determination in addition to politics and negotiation. Good enemies are in many ways just as valuable as good friends.

OFFICIAL, STANDINGS RESET INFORMATION
The Maelstrom Alliance is initiating a full reset of all standings made in the period between our initial move to North Immensea (about one year ago) and the fall of Maelstrom Prime in battle. Also, ALL Maelstrom negative standings have been reset. The following are the standings that Maelstrom will be keeping:
* Any standings agreements made after the fall of Maelstrom Prime will remain (those made within the last two months or so)
* The following traditional Maelstrom standings from before our entry into the politics of the Southern Eve world, as well as a few former Maelstrom corps not covered by alliance standings, will be maintained:

It was fun fighting against you .. it was fun fighting with you (apart from that junkie's gang warp which wasn't cancellable in the lag and took all the carriers into the enemy blob - that was just ******* scary!) Don't worry, as I've already mentioned to N SX, we will not be using IAC space to base out of, to attack IAC friendly Corps/Alliances, as for CVA.. they are neutral, and we have always operated on the policy, we do not wish to get between UK and CVA.. We love both alliances equally, and enjoy being close to witness their roleplaying.
The maintain the right to be NBSI, is just more a scape goat, for when we're popping nasty people who would normally just evemail a CEO and whine.. So relax guy! you look tired take a nap fella.. its all good.
See! not so difficult to understand Aaron, even you are neutral.. dispite me getting on my knees and pleading with Gaius.. to keep your corp red. Oh well.. maybe we'll meet in the Distillery some day and have a good laugh over a beer or somthing

I will clarify these items:
Friendly with Ushra'Khan - yes, but we are not going to shoot those that are blue to us even if they are red to Ushra'Khan.
Napped with ISS - While we did have some political issues with ISS (which were kept as internal discussion and shall remain that way) like many others did, their pilots have always been friendly and this very old standing will remain as long as ISS does not drastically change. As you did in the battle for Maelstrom Prime, we will always avoid getting involved in blue-on-blue conflicts.
NBSI - Maelstrom has had a region based NBSI policy for a long time now - this is essentially the same policy we have had for over a year now. For example, we have never had an NBSI policy in Providence region - most incidents that did occur in that region were becuase newer members were not familiar with Maelstrom's roots and history in Providence. If Maelstrom does for some reason have business in IAC space, and chances are there won't be much Maelstrom traffic there in the near future, then we will respect IAC policy, as we would respect the policies of any alliance or corp we had friendly relations with when in their space.
Probably shooting CVA - No. I have not heard of an incident with CVA in a long time involving a Maelstrom pilot. The incidents that have occurred generally have been either a Maelstrom pilot being in a friendly gang that was hostile to CVA, or again newer pilots who did not know how Maelstrom operated in Providence, and these were generally resolved diplomatically. CVA has always been neutral to us, and we have always done our best to stay out of the CVA/UK conflict. While many in Maelstrom disagree idealogically with certain aspects of CVA, we also have respect for a very well established alliance that has fought many of the same enemies as we have historically. This has been the Maelstrom stance to CVA since it was born.
I hope this clarifies the Maelstrom position for operating in the general Providence area - please contact me with any further questions or concerns.

I don't head to the distillery much anymore, too busy shooting those guys you call your 'friends', but they are becoming a bit hard to find now...

Man oh man.. i still tear myself up for not being able to lock your pod fast enough when it was traveling to the gate in the TCF bubble that time in I-NG.. ;) Im sure your heart beat quickened a little when I decloaked

I will relay this to our internal forums. As I cannot check at the moment I am not sure what CVA status with Maelstrom is - I know you were KOS at one stage dure to your ongoing pew-pew with IAC but personally not sure what the standing is at the moment.
I would however suggest that setting +10 with the terrorists in Ushra'khan is not a good move. Though that is of course your perogative

Good luck to ]v[aelstrom! I miss the old days of flying with you guys in Immensea. I'm still bitter over the loss of our outpost in I-NG, especially when everytime I take a gang back there to kill people, there is hardly anyone around but a few UNL and some IAC. Seems like such a waste...

Vortex and Mad Hatters Inc. The previous corps were unhappy with an extended stint in empire, and who could blame them.
