Use the term 'blockade' instead. Gatecamping sounds way too metagaming-like and gives false ideas about it, IMO.
Blockades, a valid tactic in naval warfare, were much used at the era of Nelson: lots of ship keeping station near a harbour to prevent the enemy to leave or resupply it. The idea was to use big numbers to swiftly sink, burn or seize as a prize any ship trying to force the blockade... Honestly, it rings more than a bell in this game.
So next time that one of your (soon-to-be-)victims shouts in local something like 'WTF U n00b gatecampers, learn to PVP like real men!!! /me madz0r', tell him that this is a blockade and he will accept his loss much more easily.
Well maybe not...

Difference between a blockade and a gatecamp is that blockade would be used during a valid war, not just waiting around all day to pewpew haulers for isk
Gatecamps are no fun unless you're in enemy territory. Then it draws a real fight.

Well to be honest, there's both.
A blockade to me would signify that the camp was there with some strategic aim in mind.
A gatecamp to me would signify a bunch of players camping a gate with no strategic motive other than to quench their thirst for easy and not so easy kills.
90% of people on the gate fall in the the last category.

Most 'bloccades' are nothing more than some people looking to pop lone ships as they pass thu that will just simply use the logoff tactic when anything comes around thats not an easy free kill.
Abandoning a gate so easily does not support the claim that it is a bloccade.
Learn to pvp like real men is also an empty response because as soon as you fight like men they logoff like chickens.

Zwerg is actually very intelligent, especially for his age. English is not his first language; however, many people choose to shorten their words, it doesn't mean anything (except perhaps laziness).
I shorten words all the time when I'm ingame. I use "u" instead of "you" and "ur" instead of "your". Does that mean I'm stupid?
No, it means I'm generally busy ingame and can't be arsed to type out full words. This equates to increased efficiency and time saved.
As long as you understand what I'm saying, thats all that matters.

Personally I love enemy gatecamps sometimes. An excuse to whip out the Nyx or other Capital ships (or a combination) to spank them all
