If someone damps me to death, let's say my targetting range is now reduced to 8,000m, do my drones still attack out to their maximum range (45km I think) if they have already engaged the other guy, or do they stop working beyond 8,000m?

Edited by: Aramendel on 27/02/2007 15:23:45 To my knowledge your targetting range does not effect your drone operating range.
The same mechanics like with ECM apply, though, only if your drones are "idle" around you the moment the dampening ship agresses you they will attack it. If they are anywhere else (at another target, en route back to you or in your dronebay) at that time nothing you can do will make them attack the damperner (outside getting close enough to lock it and give them the atatck command).

If your drones are in space and you have not previously told them to return and orbit they will automatically attack anyone who attacks you. As things attack you they get added to a list of hostile targets and your drones progress down that list untill they are told to do something else or kill the last target (god only knows what reason they use for attacking which target they do, normally they all chose different targets which splits your damage around and end up keeping you from killing anyone).
Targets only get added to this list the moment they activate a hostile module on you, if your target activates all his hostile modules before you release your drones OR the drones are set to "return and orbit" they will just float around doing nothing. Drones must be in space in "stand by mode" the moment a hostile module is activated on you to defend you.
It would be nice if there was an option to have them "attack hostile targets" which would add all hostiles to the list but perhaps that is something we can keep asking for and maybee get later.

jup, just don't forget, just because you can only command drones up to 45 km, doesn't mean they won't do whatever their AI choses beyond that range..
All the stuff above does not necessarily reflect my corp, my alliance or even me.. Drone guide.. |

Your drones have AI?!! Which ones are these, as I have yet to find any with even the intelligence, artificial or otherwise, of an average Sun reader!
